real dumb policy, or the one store i went to is just stupid. i went there last week and they pricematched some items i got, but earlier today im told they havent pricematched since november.
riiiight.
the point of a pricematch is to get/steal the sale from the competition, so THEY DONT get the sale. in retail/business, the more TOTAL sale you have at the end of the year, the better it looks for the company, and it makes for a better stock price. nevermind the profit at that point, though it does factor in greatly in the end (obviously). most retail/wholesale businesses are gauged by how much sales they gained for the year in TOTAL. if you get the sale from the competition, that means THEY didnt increase THEIR sales for the day. so you may lose out a few dollars - not that many people actually pricematch, so in the end it balances itself out. what little profit that you may lose in that few sales is made up by the total sales that YOU have as a store, and it kills the competition that way. thats the reason why stores like loew's, staples, bestbuy, walmart, circuitcity, home depot, or officemax all offer pricematch policies, with 110% gurantee in most cases - so you will end up buying from them, and NOT from the competition. they have more sales/business, the competition gets none.
either way, if its the store's policy to do so, so be it. i wont take my business to them anymore (at least not at that store). whats odd is that i regularly do it at another target, and theyre glad to do so there. at least as of last week. i dunno if they stopped it altogether all acros the U.S.
so i strolled out, and left the cart i had. i was disgusted, even if i only had 3 out of maybe 15 items that i needed pricematched. i went to homedepot and bestbuy and got the stuff i needed. some cheaper outright, and some pricematched.
