Hey guys, I just found out about a way cool, city based thing.
It's called FreeCycle. More info can be found here: www.freecycle.org
Also there are two San Diego based groups.
One for San Diego and one for South San Diego.
You can check them out here:
They are groups designed to get rid of stuff you don't need. There are four different types of posts made to the list: Wanted, Offered, Taken and ADMIN.
All posts to the list go to everyone, but when you reply to the post it goes only to the original poster, so no big traffic jam in your mailbox!
Anyway, I just thought I'd put that out there. :)

Freecycle is great. I am in Tucson where it all started. I've gotten numerous things for free.
30 gal aquarium w/ complete setup & fish
Queen size mattress & box springs
Chain link fencing
Several truckloads of gravel

Just wanted to say thanks for telling us about this site. I love it. We have gotten rid of a lot of things and I have gotten things I need. I am picking up more stuff tomorrow that I can use to help save myself money. always a good thing.

Yes, freecycle is great. By offering your unwanted items for free others get a great "deal" on something they can use. Freecycle's aim is to keep things out of the landfill and can be a treasure trove for others.
But another site you might want to check out is "Tagsale". All areas don't have one yet (hint... if yours doesn't maybe you want to start a group).
I found it by searching at Yahoo in "groups". You can buy and sell items for generally under $500.00 and save the cost of newspaper or auction site advertising.
Not as good as free but some deals are good (depending of course on the seller).

We use FreeCycle here in DC, it's a great way to swap stuff. One man's junk is another's treasure!
I gotten a free laptop bag, bucket of softballs for my daughter, and box of clothes for my son. Gave away a few DVD's and an IKEA cabinet.
Glad to see it spread around a bit...

Oh nice! I signed up for the Wichita one! :D

I should add that, at least here in DC, stuff goes FAST. If you see something you like, you should try and jump on it. :shifty: Often stuff will go in a matter of hours...

I going out to pick up more stuff today. I am getting cloth diapers and the plastic pants and velcro pants to go with them. This will save us a bundle.

Goes in a matter of minutes in Wichita! omg! lol
I'm giving away a game I bought for like $2 a year ago that Scott isn't interested in (How To Host A Murder) and 2 boxes of romance books. I'm going to pick up a twin comforter later today! yay! :)

You can also try the CheapCycle group on Yahoo. Not for free, but pretty good deals. There's groups for most areas of the country. :deal:

I only wish ours was more wanted based. I put up ten bags of clothes and 6 were no shows, I offered them to next in line and four were no shows. So I am just throughing them all away. I also posted a crap load of books and had them set for four people to pick up only one did. But when we have responded to a wanted they always pick up. in our area we can only post on wanted in a 7 day time frame. I think that sucks. I also have found that I keep meaning to go looking through things for stuff to offer and never get around to it, but I see a wanted for something I know I have and will give away and I do.
