I used to think that it was very usefull. But lately I have been wondering why you would need it. When I leave work I like to go home, not work on the way home. The only way I would understand having a complete computer set up in a vehicle is if you have other people there who want to play Q3A or UT.

Well, I think the GPS's and DVD run maps are kind of nice.

Ever been in the new S500? If you get in an accident and the airbags go off, it automatically calls for an ambulance and gives them your exact location. If you're ever driving around and don't know where to eat, call the concierge. You speak (there's a microphone near the headliner, and the speaker is through the radio) and ask em where to eat. They can tell you all the good restaurants near you. Weird.

Hey this is America....We just put things like that in our car to say we have it. It's like I have 384mb of RAM in my computer. I differently don't use it all. I just have it, to say I have it. hehe

Actually, it would be great for long trips... have a small 10" monitor, wire the computer to the 12V supply from the car (using a voltage/current limiter etc.), and plug the soundcard into you car's speakers. Use a touchpad instead of a mouse. You'll be able to play MP3's until you get sick of them, plus have GPS and roadmap capabilities.

Like I said though, this would be good for 8hr.+ road trips. (maybe even play a DVD or two http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Of course, what I'd really like is to set something up on my motorcycle (see the "what's everobody drive" topic) and be able to watch DVD's on the inside of the visor, and have surround sound inside my helmet. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/cool.gif

As you can tell, I dream a lot...

anyone who would want a dvd playing in the visor of his motorcycle helmet has a death wish. you know you'd wreck.
of course all this technology is fun, but it's just getting to be too much. i love having all the newest stuff in my house, but when it gets into the car it's too much. anything that increases safety and performance is cool, anything that takes your attention from the road for no good reason is a really bad idea.

Cmon guys,
Let's be serious !
A computer is already in most cars already !
Now a PC in the car is another great idea but you have to remember you can't be Quakin' while you're driving.
I have a TV VCR combo in my van but I don't watch movies while I'm driving.
A PC in the car will be an option on most vehicles soon enough and I'm sure it will be quite popular !
PS Passengers are people too and sometimes you may even stop your car every now and then to engauge in some First Person Carnage yourself :o)
