Lamborghini Diablo...If I get one right now I should be able to paid if off in the year 2313(unless I win one of those darn PowerBall lotterys). http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Wow, Pdizog spoke my mind. M5 baby! Although I haven't driven one yet. I love driving M3s though. My only concern is the 5 may be too heavy and "sluggish" for my taste.

Anything over $150K on a car is too much for me. I'd buy a bigger house...indoor heated pool - there ya go! Groovy, Smashing. Yeah, Baby Yeah!

3. twin-turbo convertable corvette (650hp!!)

The new E46 M3 would be nice, of course in silver being the official German racing color. A Z8 would be nice too considering only 400 of those babies are coming over this year and that a dealer in the bay area has one for $250,000!!!

If your going for a Viper at least get a TNT Viper, at 777hp it would leave the stock viper in its smoke.

If I wanted a truck/suv, it would be the Durango V10

http://www.hennesseymotorsports.com/images/Durango2.jpg

What has 4-doors, Seats Four, Carries Four
Sets of Golf Clubs and is Powered by a
520 hp / 550 lb-ft Viper V10 Engine?

Hennessey Motorsports Durango V10
"The World's Most Powerful SUV"

Think of it as a Viper GTS with 4 doors! Yes, you read correctly, Hennessey Motorsports is building a Viper V10 powered, 488 cubic inch, 500 plus horsepower varient of the popular Dodge Durango.

Currently under construction, our prototype 2 wheel drive Durango V10 will incorporate the following equipment: 520 hp / 550 lb-ft aluminum V10 engine mated to 6-speed T56 transmission, 3.73 rear axle gearing, 18 in. wheels sporting Michelin Pilot tires, Brembo front brake upgrade, lowered sport-tuned suspension, HMS front and rear fascias, special HMS appointed interior and more. the problem with american cars are that they are way too inefficiant. for example that viper gets 77hp per liter. The new M3 gets 109hp per liter (350hp, 3.2) not to mention its redline is at 7900 (before mods http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

Hapoo, That IS true.

but, For me.. I just care about sheer speed. I don't care how fast the engine has to spin, I just care how fast it will make the tires spin and how fast it will make me hit my head against the headrest. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Efficiancy is good, though.

It would be interesting to see what BMW could do if they made an 8.0L engine. If they could make an 8 as good as a 3.2, that would be something.

Damn,
I want a BMW M3, then a corvette, but lastly, my absolute dream car has to be the Dodge Viper. Man, just browsing through Hennessey Motorsports' site made me drool. Phew, for me to afford that Viper...
I'd have to graduate, get commisioned, then wait about 3 years without spending any money outside of basic necessities to afford that.

yeah it would be nice to see what bmw could do with a 8 liter engine. I think the reason they dont make bigger engines is cause gas is very expensive in europe.

Naw, the fastest SUV was at a Offroad/touring show I went to. Somebody took the main engine componentns from an F-150 lightning and put them into an Explorer. I saw that thing melt its rubber, and it clocked 0-60 in 4.6 and did the 1/4 mile @107mph http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif

Too silly and expensive for my tastes though ($78K I think). I would just take an Expedition or Land Cruiser and beef it up. Then go stump pulling or cruising Baja.

The reason I love BMW is their cars are so sedany (is that a word?) yet they outhandle and outaccelerate most sports cars. Low profile is what I love. If you averaged my driving speed once my car engine was warm and there was no traffic, it would probably be about 90 or 95. Still I have no tickets after 6 years because I am very CHP vigilant, I know when not to drive fast, and my car is super-slammed, big exhausted, overtinted, or have lame badging all over it. It helps to have ridden along with cops before too http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Can anybody hook me up with Indy car racing? I've done Baja once, flew as a WSO in an F-15, puller 178 in A Testarosa, but I have yet to sit in an Indy car. That and flying in the Space Shuttle would be my ultimate Speed thrills http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

hehe, pressurize flight suit, got to pull 9+G. Was surprised my body could handle it, but then (18 years old) I was a lot more muscle than the mush I have turned to.

The video is so funny. On the 3rd hard turn I had a near red-out and it freaked me out a bit. On an inverted high G turn I passed out at 9.19G and all this drool I had in my mouth was just flowing. The pilot was laughing, but I was unconcious. It's weird when you wake up. First you realize you're awake, then you're moving, then you're in a plane, and finally after about 1 minute you realize why you blacked out http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hehe, I was just looking for the video to see if I could do that http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif For some reason I can't seem to find it in my storage bin. Hmmm.....

The $320 included all the preflight training which lasted about 5 hours, 1 hour prep, and about 32 minutes of flight time. I think I got a discount because my dad was installing Military software on the base for TRW.

I know El Toro and Miramar used to have similar programs, and they still might. If you're interested, call up as I think June was the month they let "public fly". There are a lot of schools that will take you up in propeller military aircraft like a P-51 for $200. For a couple hundred more you could fly in a retired military jet.

As for fastest production trucks/suv's that were out on the market and not taken to any specialty manufacturers, the fastest would be the Ford Lighting.

"WOW! This truck is simply just awesome. To date I have run a best of [email protected] weighing in at an incredible 4825lbs WOW again http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif. The factory claims are simply just not accurate...this trucks freaking fast as hell. I also had in dynoed recently and pulled down the following numbers:

rwhp: 319.7 @ 4600 rpm
rwtq: 400.0 @ 3400 rpm"

Remember this truck again comes like this in stock condition from the Ford factory line and not from Stillen, Rousch or any other aftermarket manufacturer.

I am sorry...this is ridiculous...the 2001 Porsche Turbo is the baddest car (perhaps aside from that beastly Durango) on American soil. Just redonculous. Ever try and sit in a Diablo? If you're not a dwarf, it ceases to be a dream car.
And I think the exact reason I hate BMW's is that they are so sedan-y.

i dont have time to find a photo, but you're not going to beat the new ferari 360 modena spider. design is perfect, handling is perfect, engine is perfect. i saw a hardtop at an autocross last weekend and it kicked ass, even being driven by a sissy. the only thing bad you can say about this car is the lack of cargo room, but since we're talking ultimate rides here, i'll take it as a weekend driver.

pardon me for saying so.. but if I were to get a performance machine, it would be a bike, not a car... for under $20k (AUD, currently at about .60 usd) you can get a bike that does 0-100kmh (0-62mph)in under 3 seconds, not to mention top speeds circa 300kmh (you do the math)... and a top of the range bike would only set you back about $30-40k

so what would I get? the MV Augusta F4, why? because it's sex on a stick.. even if it isn't the fastest bike

colossus
06-08-2000, 12:37 AM
Big deal! 0-62mph in under 3 seconds. Try 0-100 mph in 2.13 seconds using a F-15 with no load and a Steam Ram launcher. Hehe, I wish I could feel what that felt like.

I would like to try an F-14 now. Sure the Porsche has a 2nd wing that pops up at 78 mph. The F-14 Tomcat has clearing wings that come out when it's pushing top thrust. Oh, and I gotta have the 6000 round aircraft guns on their - you know, to pick off Staples employees.

We were talking machines weren't we?

Thanks Hapoo for those beautiful BMW pictures. I don't think any major production rims come better than BMWs. Have you noticed that some of the newest Civic looks for body style and rims are trying so hard to copy the 3 series cars.

Man, an M3 while driving down PCH at 100 mph cranking up the Techno or some Hard Rock. There ya go!!! Plus the cuttie in the passenger seat (sorry, nobody in the F1 haha) will appreciate the BMW seats http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

McLaren F1 is old tech, and about $300K overpriced. Ford's GT90 revision C (which they stupidly refuse to put into production for racing) costs about $1.1 million and beats the F1 in almost every category of track/touring performance. Something to be said for two engines blocks that are bored out with Laser technology. The car's looks aren't that great. The fact that the tread on the tires says GT90 if read in an odd angle makes up for it. Anybody who's ever seen a GT45 on track taking on a Shelby knows what I'm talking about.

Jazper: your right... Bikes are the way to go if you AWESOME performance for a retalively affordable price. I've got a '85 Shadow 500 (cruiser type) with a laggy throttle and I can still to 0-60 in about 5sec. and can beat plenty of cars (I don't race very much though).

I rode my cousins Ninja 900 a few times and I thought IT had power. I can't even imagine what it would be like to ride a MV Augusta F4 http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

What's scary is I was looking at the new Maxima a bit today and saw Ford all over it (cuz Ford does some of their designs now).

Yeah, the Galant looks sweet, especially the sharp hoodlines and flat tail. Or is it the Diamante, I get them confused.

Lexus has been copying MB for a long time. I guess the Toyota look wasn't good enough. It goes all the way back to when Lexus started putting the rear backup white lights into the Red lights in an oval shape. If you look an an MB E class you'll see this very evidently. Look at a GS400 and an E class and it's scarry.

Even scarrier is how Civics are looking like BMWs. Civics used to have that sleek Prelude look and now they're going for the Boxy BMW 328i/Old Mustang box car look.

Just saw Top Gun on DVD. Anybody got deals on a used F-14?
