soehoe defrag got deleted or corrupted on my system. when i try to defrag a drive, it runs in dos and hangs the system, wtf?

If you're running XP and have the original cd, let your computer boot off of it and then run the repair...that usual fixes up ****ed up or corrupt windows files. If not, try downloading one of those third parter defraggers.

thanks for the program mike, but it dosen't work. it gets somewhere aroun 30% then reboots my machine.

You sure your HD is OK? Hangs or reboots during a defrag can sometimes mean hardware problems...

Time to download and burn the Ultimate Boot CD (http://ubcd.sourceforge.net/) ... Great HD and system diagnostics there.
