View Full Version : 2000 maxima exhaust?

anybody know where I can buy a 2000 maxima exhaust? I wanna put it on my 97 Maxima...supposedly the new exhaust gets more power from it.

Where did you hear that? With the 2000 engine, yes. With the 97 engine, no. Why not consider an aftermarket exhaust if you want more power such as greddy or tanabe?

That may be true, but you are definitely not going to pump out more than 10hp with that exhaust. Not to mention, he'll be paying a hefty price for it too. It't the engine that makes the largest difference, not the exhaust. Just not worth it in my opinion.

yeah I am considering that... but I don't wanna sound like a lawnmower engine with one of those exhausts on. Don't quote me on those being really loud, but I just wanna try a 2k maxima exhaust first. It seems to be the wisest choice in my opinion in terms of noise. Plus, it's a more sure-proof way that I'm getting more power since the new maxima uses the same engine and all. These are just my opinions..I'm welcome to any others. I just wanna keep my car clean and not get into a rice-racer image. Any opinions will be appreciated...thanks. (p.s. I'm still looking for a 2k maxima exhaust)

Honestly, I don't think your opinion doesn't make much sense. Greddy makes exhausts that are not noisy, such as the one I have. Also, the 2K Maxima Engine is definitely not the same as '97. The engine in the new Maxima pumps out 32 more horses. It has little to do w/ the exhaust. What makes most of the power is in the engine itself, not the exhaust. You may be able to get a couple more horses out of the exhaust, but no where near the stock 222horses that the 2K pumps out.

Maxima uses sometype of variable exhaust where it has a valve to change route of the exhaust for optimal performance, I think it has somthing to do with back pressure.
Great, so how much is shipping?

Hey Eminem17, thanks for all your replies. I used to think that it was a new engine in the 2000 maxima, however, Nissan is using the exact same engine. The main things that were modified was that exhaust (adopted from the skyline) and a variable intake system. Those were the main two modifications that added the extra 32 horses. I have friends that can help me fit that exhaust on my 97..cause they've seen it done before. But if your Greddy is on a maxima..how is it? Thanks for the replies.

I worked at a Nissan dealership last summer selling these exact same cars. Once again, I have to beg to differ. I agere that Nissan has tweaked it's exhaust, but it has also tweaked it's 2K engine as well for optimal performance. You were right upon further research that the engine is the same. Also, my friend was at the dealer yesterday trying to secure a 2K SE. We discussed your situation and concluded that there's no way the exhaust alone is responsible for 32 more horses. I have a Greddy on my Integra. I don't own a Max. I'm quite satisfied with it, as I chose one that does not make much noise, but does give optimal output. Greddy is one of the world's best in aftermarket exhausts, and I suggest you looking into them as well.

Thanks. Well sorry if I misled you into thinking that the 32 horses came from just the new exhaust. I am aware that it's just one of the many things modified and is not responsible for the extra gain in hp. However, I was just trying to stay along the lines of the new maxima...assuming that its probably cleaner for my car that way, but correct me if I'm wrong about that. Do you now what other mods I can do to my car without ruining my engine in the long run? Thanks for all the help...I really need to hear this stuff.

You can try adding an aftermarket exhaust along with an intake (Icemans are my personal favs). This combination can add a noticeable increase in your performance without hurting your engine at all. Headers are another consideration. Although they provide lower end torque, they do not necessarily justify the amount of money you spend on them. If you have the money to play around with, you might consider a turbo kit or a chip for your car as well. Those are my recommendations in terms of engine performance. If you are looking for superior handling, sway bars, springs, and performance tires are my other suggestions.
Good luck. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
