Ok, there has to be a useful website for programming that has a nice community like this. Anyone know of one?

I'm not sure what programming languages you use, but in the past I've found useful info at http://www.tek-tips.com HTH

www.asp.net has some useful forums for ms web based programming. People there are very friendly and helpful.

well, right now. C++. My school only taught C and Java. Bastards. I know all the basic stuff. I picked up a book about C++, but there things I don't know where to look in the book. I just wanna go there and be able to ask, "this is what I want to do. I'm not sure where to find out how, could someone send me in the right direction?"

Psh, I'm still trying to figure out the mentality behind .net and mono. It looks cool, but I dunno.

Ok, forgot to come back here and post this until now :)
Anyway, it always seems to me that although there are quite a few venues for discussing computer programming, there are relatively few where people aren't hard on 'newbies'. For instance, newsgroups are a great place to ask questions, however, if you ask a simple question, you're far more likely to get a lot of people telling you to "do a search" rather than answering your question.
So, as attgig said, why not here? There are quite a few programmers on this board (I think). Ask away! :)
