Dear Obby: How can i shrink a wool sweater just a bit?

I picked up a wool sweater on final sale at j crew, size large. It's too big and i want to shrink it to a size medium+.

what shall i do?

give it a quick soak in water as hot as you can get it..just soak it long enough to get the water all the way through the fabric...gently ring it dry in a towel, lay it flat to block it back to the shape you want-then if you can, dry it in the sun (flat)..that should work. Don't put it in the dryer though-you'll have a baby sized sweater when it's done.
