Uhhh... how do you know it had anything to do with the food? Maybe you just have an infection or something and would have had it whether you ate the chinese food or decided instead to go to korean BBQ. btw... what is oart?

Oh... re-read your original post and you're right... your post didn't blame the food, it was the posts after that that confused me. My apologies, thought that you were attacking chinese food, and well... that couldn't go unanswered. Anyways, it might be an infection. Do you have a fever? Does it hurt to swallow? etc... Might want to get it tested because if it's a strep. throat, you may want to get some antibiotics. Most likely you'll suffer for a few days and get better.

Were there any red pepper flakes in your food? Sometimes they will get stuck between my teeth or scratch my throat and it will be inflamed for awhile. Goes away after a couple days.

Maybe if you could specify what you ate. chinese food is a broad category... But yeah things like peppers, or spices, or curry could have an adverse affect if you had a minor cut from another meal or some other object in your mouth. Also, it could be because you cut it. Did you eat any sharp foods like tortilla chips or fried wontons? That could do it in terms of blaming the gum. But as for the throat, well a lodged pepper could maybe do that. I'll investigate further..
