Xp sp2 sets the limit of concurent connections to 10, if you hit 10 it blocks all the connections for that program, this is supposed to protect against worms and what not but yea it makes your p2p speed suck

To see if you are getting the error
Go to administrative tools - event viewer - and look under system

if there is a yellow sign thingy with tcpip and the event id is 4226 then you probably need this fix...

*ripped from shareaza fourms*

I take no responsibilty for your computer getting screwed up if you do this wrong.

This fix will make the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts UNLIMITED.

Instructions:

First of all, make sure you backup your old tcpip.sys first!

Restart your computer an press F8 short after the Bios is done and start in safe mode.
Then we go into the directory C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS and overwrite the existing TCPIP.SYS
with our patched one and then repeat this with the directory C:\WINDOWS\SERVICEPACKFILES\I386
and system dependend eventually with C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE.

We did it! Now only reboot Windows and the normal surfing will work again!

The original fix was made by LvlLord, but that fix only increases the number of concurrent TCP connect
attempts from 10 to 50 which is in some cases not sufficient.

How does this effect game server hunting (ie, STEAM, GameSpy)?

it would probably limit the crap out of it, considering if you are using steam and you open the server list, how many servers does it get info from in how many seconds. Once u fix it though, its all ok, no more errors and best of all no slow dl speeds

can u offer a new link to the unlimited access one. I dont want to register at that forum.

And is that file invisble? I dont seem to have it. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE.

Thanks for hosting, but are you telling me that there are some files that will only appear in safemode? That makes no sense.

Oh, and Snowsurfer, have you done the patch and have you noticed any changes?

Some files you can only overwrite in safemode because they are protected by the OS....

What a retarded 'security feature' :disa:

My sources INSIDE of microsoft explained to me that this only works on FAILED connections. It will not affect normal connections so dont worry about it!

yes i did the patch and i dont get an error in my logs anymore and i also am getting regular speed in shareaza and bt

run shareaza or bt or whatever your poison is, try to download something and then check your logs to see if you are getting the error
