um...i'm really not good with cars and stuff...
but lately...when its really hot...when i start up the car, i notice smoke coming out of my tailpipe. (it doesn't smell like the usual CO exhaust, nor does it smell like smoke)
i know that's NOT supposed to happen...but can anyone tell me why it is?
also, about 3 months ago, i took my car to the dealership for a 100k mile tune-up...so there shouldn't be anything major right?
TIA

what color is the smoke - white or black...white is antifreeze - black is oil
does it smell kinda sweet?? sweet is anti freeze - burnt toast is oil
could have blown a head gasket, that means oil or antifreeze is leaking into the combustion chamber. can ruin the engine if not fixed soon.

smoke is white
sigh...gonna have to fix car again? For statistical purposes, what kind of car is it? Also, have you considered the possibility of sabatoge on your 1hk tuneup?

would get it looked at - could be a small leak when cold - then as the engine swells up from heat - the leak seals, if left unchecked it will get worse, probably at the most inopportune time.....

So it's over 18 then? You may not approve, but it is old enough to make it's own decision regarding smoking.

....anyway, white smoke noticed when first started is probably coolant. It's possible that you have a headgasket going. Keep an eye on your coolant level and oil condition (make sure it doesn't look milky, dilluted).
