Star "____ caller" a hoax? My co-worker called in when they said "caller 10 now". She called in and was caller 1. Then she hung up called again and they said, "What's your name? Oh you're caller 9!" So she hung up and redialed again... got through again and whom ever answered the phone said "hello?" and she said, "Am I caller 10?" and the guy was like, "no you're caller 9" to which she immediately asked him how she could be caller 9 twice. The guy was like, well you must have not hung up. There’s no way that is possible since she was hitting different phone lines to dial out.

So, fellow 98.7 fans…. Is it already pre-decided who will be the ____ caller when they say so? Quite possibly they humor people by saying, “Oh too bad, you’re caller ___.” And they repeat it many times to multiple callers. Quite possibly they weren’t banking on the fact that the same person would get through twice to catch on to their little game.

I have wondered the same, but I have also won concert tickets by being caller number 10 and answering the top 5 at 7. I've learned it's impossible to try calling in for any of the call-in-and-win stuff when listening online. The delay is at least 3~5min more then the live radio if not longer. :throw:

I am sure that I was caller 10, because in previous tries, they only say, you're caller number whatever and hung up, so i was really excited. I don't think the call in's are fixed. They have so many that they could never keep up with it and aren't going to waste time, money and legal action over the prizes. I've won numerous times over the last 7 months.

Is there a specific time at which the prizes are released? I have been checking everday for the past two weeks and I am always missing out.

Random prizes are selected and offered each day at 8:50am, 1:50pm, 4:50pm and 8:50pm -- on the dot. You virtually have to sit on your computer at that time if you want to win anything. I've been waiting for two weeks like an obsessed addict for one of the bigger prizes to come available. Last night it was finally offered, and I got to the "buy" box as soon as it was open, but by the time I clicked to finalize the purchase (all of a second later), I got a message saying that the item was no longer available and had been sold out. Arrrrrrggggghhhhhh!!! What a waste of my time!

I have noticed that they tend to put the prizes up in the store a couple minutes before they announce the password of the day. So if you have time, you should log in early and keep hitting refresh until one comes available, because most are gone right away. If you wait until the password is already announced, the prize has already been taken. I am another one with 100k and I am trying harder to get a prize then to put in the password right away, you can always do that a few minutes later. Good luck!

I don't really get all the complaining. If you want whatever you want badly enough and have the points, you can get it. From the moment the thing I wanted went up there, I paid attention and kept reloading at every prize time and I got what I wanted. I had over 120,000 points and I'm back up to over 60,000 again because of that survey (2900 points helps a lot - do the survey). They used to not tell us when the prizes would be available - now they tell us. 2. More listeners to STAR = Higher ratings for STAR

3. Higher ratings for STAR = More money that STAR can charge its advertisers for their commercials.

So, when STAR baits people with prizes to get them to listen in order to generate more advertisement revenue, they need to make prizes readily available so people can cash in on their points.

The only way to buck the system is to get points without listening, which is why I LOVE this board :fro:

If you look up "white trailor trash" in the dictionary you won't find anything. You have to spell correctly to look up words in the dictionary. By the way, I disagree with your assertion in general. I don't always like Jamie's antics, but I think she is genuine to who she is. I just think that some of what she portrays is unimaginably superficial and ridiculous. I find her amusing for a radio show, but never could tolerate her in my personal life. I think that she has mellowed a bit with time though.

I'm not sure he is "trying" to sound like him. I've always thought he sounded like him, but he never had such a big role in the show as he does now. Now you hear him all the time, so you can equate him with sounding like The Dan.

Bummer. I was gone on vacation for 2 weeks and now the Dan is gone. I agree he was annoying at times, but so is Jamie. The fact is that each of their annoying parts balanced the other and made the combination work.

I'm not sure if i'll miss him. I could go either way. ALot of things he said were funny, but at times also annoying. I'll miss the dumb stuff he used to to like eating raw turkey, and all the other stupid things he did in studio.

You're right about the good guy thing. Even when he was a DJ here in Detroit, drinking alot, he was awesome to me. I had written to him to remind him of how we met when he was opening for David Cassidy concerts, and he called me to put me on the air to read my letter. He apologized for how he'd treated me, gave me dinner for two to make up for it, and after I started going to all the remotes I could, he started calling me his Michigan stalker and gave me my 15 minutes of fame. I even went with the radio show to Jamaica for a week, and he introduced me to everyone he knew, friends and family, and would always say he wasn't afraid of me. :) I met his wife, and made a lot of my best friends because of the radio station. I saw the real Danny lots of times off the radio, and he was always down to earth, honest about his addictions, and very witty. I cried buckets when he got transferred to NYC.
When he ended up at KYSR, I was thrilled because I could listen on the internet, and talk to him occasionally. Jack created Stalker Trivia for me and Cathy from Chicago to play on Danny's last birthday. I was hoping to call him again next month, but now I can't. I feel like I've lost one of my closest friends, even tho we never talked much about personal things, because he was never hesitant to thank me for my attention, or tell everyone I was one of his favorite people.
I just wish he was better at answering emails! They all say he is happy to be gone from radio, but I'd feel better hearing it from him directly.

Wow, its awesome that you knew the person for who he really is instead of the personality he was portraying. Even though, those guys on that show sound like they are who they are. Really down to earth and I love their humour.

About the emails, I dont know if you had a personal account for him (ie-hotmail, aol etc) because I can only imagine how many hundreds of emails they receive a day and Im sure they get filtered by a 3rd party.
Even then, some people are just horrible at replying to emails period!

Just to add to the humor I was one of the individuals to actually get tickets for it. I thought I was going to sell them on ebay for $1 or something but a college friend of mine is coming down on Friday and we are going. Ive told some people in the office and they all started busting up at me. I dont blame them!!

Just a quick note to warn anyone who might be counting on the radio station's tickets as being good - BUY THE TICKETS you want if you care!!! I bought tickets to see Tori Amos in the first pre-sale and got okay seats (one of the center two B sections at the Greek, row G). I figured if I got lucky enough to win the Star tickets (which would clearly be better than these - heck, the last time I saw her there I was dead center in row B of the same section) I could just sell the ones I already bought on eBay - the show is sold out.

I did win the tickets and it's a good thing I got the Star tickets before I got my other tickets. The Star tickets are in one of the FAR B sections in row M. I was pretty shocked. Apparently, they have no affiliation to the Greek that's worth anything to the Greek. Just so you're aware... Don't count on the tickets being great if you get them off of the Star Store.

I'm not complaining - free tickets are great and if I had worse seats and could upgrade for free, it'd be wonderful! Just wanted to post a little word to the wise so that no one bypasses chances to get better tickets with hopes that the radio station tickets will be better.

Hey I won Tori Amos tickets as well. I was caller 10 for the the top 5 at 7 or something like that. I wasn't able to go because of a business trip though so sold them to a friend of a friend of a friend. I forget where the exact seating was but it wasn't that bad. Specially for free tickets.

Yeah, they care more about the ones on the phone and, you work harder for them, so it makes sense. I just was surprised that the seats were so much worse than the seats I got originally. I've gotten through a few times when trying to win tickets on air, but never as the right number...

No morning show, no Star. I listen to XM on the way in. No way i'm listening to the crappy selection of music. It's bad enough my alarm clock wakes me up by playing music, but now its not one song, its a bunch in a row. It seems every morning at 6:15 is No Doubt/Gwen Crapfani. I stop listening to Star at 10:05 anyway.

i dont mind the music so much coz I do tend to listen to it while Im at work. Either Star or KBig... yesterday I drove up listening to the Seacrap show and thats what it was. The main highlight is some 10-year-old making prank calls. Com'on now, we all know that came from the Simpsons!

Ryan did a good job not speaking SO much in the afternoon show on Star. But I thought Rick Dees was hilarious in the KIIS show.

I listin to 100.0 sometimes. It's called the "xxxx xxxx blockparty". I don't listin all that often so I forget the first part. But it has some guy and Annanda Lewis (from MTV) and in the afternoon's it;s Spindarella. It's entertaining.

I agree with Baggio - no Morning Show, No Star. I used to listen to Star only while getting ready for work and for the first couple of hours at work, but they were gone at 10:05am and I listened to other music during the day. Now I don't even bother to listen in the morning at all. The show started going downhill before the rehab gig, and now that Danny's gone and the rest of the show seems to be on vacation, I figure, what's the point?

I've gotten the call from the radio review people too -- used to be Star #1, but the last couple of times it definitely was not. I also did the extra credit music review for Star -- dissed most of the crappy music they play and gave kudos to some of the older rock stuff they asked about. Hopefully they'll consider changing up their format for some of us "older fogies"! Anything would be better than what they have right now!
