Why doesn't someone make a universal console that can play games across platforms? I don't think it is illegal to play PSX games on a non PSX as long as you bought the game.
wasn't this the agument Bleem uses? I think they should make a universal console and of course wo ever made it would be rich hehe
i understnad all the console have diffent hardware but they should develop some conversion like MAC and Windows =)
I doubt this idea will ever go but it is an intresting thought

I don't think this will ever happen because all the console companies as well as Microsoft and Apple believe that their product should be the standard. Obviously, Sony will object to Nintendo's claim that the world should make the Dolphin a universal standard. The same goes for the windows v. mac deal. The only way I see a standardization happening is either by takeovers of companies (Microsoft taking over Apple, Nintendo taking over Sega) or by government involvement. But that's not going to happen: These companies make a lot of money by having 4 formats of consoles.

Bleem! is a great start, but hardly what I would call a solution. If you ever tried using Bleem, you would find that it's not fully compatible with most games. By fully compatable I mean that it does not run flawlessly like it would on a PSX. Granted Bleem! does some Direct3d enhancements on the graphics and that's pretty cool, but on most games, there are one or two major problems that Bleem! users have to live with like speech and animation not in sync and graphics problems (play Tony Hawk Pro Skater on Bleem!). It's unfortunate, but it's a start.

However, what I DON'T want to see is a mixing of PC and console into a mish-mash product that combines the two. Seeing Dreamcasts that support internet browsing and specs of the XBox having PC properties is good, but I hope that game developers don't abandon the PC for those "quasi-pc" consoles.

My 2 cents.
