I am a level 28 sorceress right now, hmmm what to put your skills into. Well first of all you should figure out what you want to put stuff in early on, so you don't waste points. I would suggest at least 10 in warmth, and the spells that I use the most right now, are Firewall, Glacial Spike, chain lightning, and meteor. But what I would suggest for you is to go here: http://www.battle.net/diablo2/ and check out their section on the skills. It tells each spell's damage and mana etc, for each level. It was very useful. But I have also heard that lots of people just static field a lot, because it takes away 25% of their hit points but I haven't tried that much. Hope this helps.

i wouldn't advise separating your skills, the way that kacarp does; i would advise choosing to be a fire, lightning, OR cold sorceress because you will want to choose only one of them. The fire ones do the most damage, the lightning ones hit the most people, and the cold ones do a fair amount of damage, and slow people down (very important when you fight duriel or izual). Just figure out which of the three is what you want don't exclusively hit those ones, but put the majoriy of your points into one of the three. This is because once you start puming up your masteries, 3 mastery points in fire will do a lot better than 1 in each mastery. Later.

First of all, thanks for the advice for both of you. As a sorceress, do I gain experience simply by casting spells or do I actually have to kill the monsters? Just out of curiousity, what armor do you guys wear? 'cause sorceress has relatively weak defense and I've been thinking of using a shield and giving up a staff. So far I'm wearing a breast plate.

Ya I know, I wish I wouldn't have done that now, but hey it was my first sorceress, I will make a new one later. But I would say that you should figure out what spells you want early on, and just like ProMinx said concentrate on one set of skills. Fire seems to be really effective, if you look at the higher level damage of firewall and meteor they are pretty good, I know I always use firewall against hard guys. But for armor right now I have some armor that is ac 180, but on nightmare I found some studded leather stuff with AC of 230 so I am wearing that right now. But you also need resistances, so I have a prismatic amulet. And you definately need a good staff, lucky for me I just got an Archangel's Warstaff that adds 2 to all sorceress skills, 2 to glacial spike, and 2 to static field http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sometimes I wonder what good lightning spells are. Fire is the most powerful. Cold can freeze a range of components, and lightning is just.....lightning.

Mana shield. But I barely got hit in the combat. I run FAST! LOL. Is it possible to create the same name after I delete the character? I'll focus on fire and ice this time.

Ya you can use the same name, or you could just rename all the files so you can use that name again.

Like kacarp.d2... etc just rename to Lary.d2.. do it for all the files, that should work. then you still have your old character, just new name.

Ya lightning is not too good it seems, well static field is a must, especially against high level characters. Just use that for a while then finisht them off with something else. And I am gonna throw one into teleport just so I can get out of those sticky situations. Anyone tried that orb defense thingy, forget what it is called, but it takes damage to your mana instead.

Hey, thanks for the info Kacarp. Now my new sorceress can swing as hard as a um.... strong sorceress. Ha. Fire and Cold are da bomb! I gave up the staff and instead using sword and shield. It makes the game a bit easier in the early stage.

Need suggestion, whether I should wear a +1 to all skill amulet or a prismatic amulet which addes about 20% resistance to poison, cold, fire, and lightning. Thank you.

Ha I am dealing with the same dilema. I have a prismatic am, and one that adds +1 to all skills. Hmmmm well keep both of them definately, and I would say wear the +1 until you start faving elemental attacking guys, then just switch. So earlier on in the game you can get away with no resistance, even though nightmare and hell drop it way down, but for the later acts you will probably need the added resistance.

Kacrap, do you happen to have some decent boots/gloves/headwear/or mage plate for sale?

Since I'm still untrained, I'd probably stick with +1 to skill amulet. Afterall, my fire resistance is 64% and 24% for cold and 40% for poison. The resistances don't seem to bother in Normal level. <shrug>
