Ok.... i'm trying to be as cheap as possible with this. I have a full sized bed in a moderate sized room. I don't have a box-spring, but I want to raise the bed... oh, about a foot or a foot and a half off the floor. It's a brand new mattress, but I gotta trash it or sell it after 3 years anyway...
Anyone have any ideas?
I was thinking milk crates, but it's like super illegal to steal them in New York City, and you can't really hide it when you're walking down Lexington Ave with 8 milk crates in your arms... Then I was thinking cinder blocks and a plank, but a plank can run about $60. Maybe 2x4s... but that can get expensive as well... any thoughts? Thanks-a-mundo!

Why not contact your local grocer and see if you can have some?
Other than that, I dunno.

Have you tried checking your local Goodwill for a bed frame and box spring?

Buy a cheap used mattress/boxspring/frame and put it under your bed.

I blew fire!!!!
On another note, I would go with the cinderblock and 2x4 idea....although...I'm in texas and I can just get that stuff for free from my friend's houses/yards....

:stupid:
in nc it's illegal to sell used bedding but folks drop them off at goodwill all the time so they usually have a stack of boxsprings they'll give away.

that's what he's talking about (cinder blocks) with the 2x4 or plank option, but that could get expensive quickly.

or you could check craig's list for free stuff. my old roommate got a free loft bed frame and chopped the legs so his bed is about 3 ft off the ground.

thanks everyone... I think I'm going with the CRAIG'S LIST idea... people are giving away stuff for free!! It's cool in NY, cause some people have to move and get rid of all their stuff last minute, and since it's totally inconvenient trying to move stuff, they sell for super cheap or just give it away! It's like xmas evertime I refresh!!!
