I have been taking it infrequently for years. It has been my drug of choice for neck pain.
As a matter of fact, I took one this evening.

damn that sucks... why did they pull it?
i took that as a muscle relaxant after i looped my bike out early back in '03 - the doc gave me some samples. I only used half of them, and saved the rest... came in handy when i got a neck cramp/pulled muscle that lasted two weeks.

i was reading (like 2 months ago - before they pulled it last week) that there is not evidence that Vioxx is more effective than over the counter drugs like acetomenophen or ibuprofen. of course individuals respond differently, but when it got pulled my first thought was "who cares, there's plenty of other pain killers out there." hopefully one will work well for those who need it.
...and if you want some vicodin, i got 18 pills left over from my root canal last month...:shifty:

i got a store of 50 or so Vioxx pills. Isolved the pain by having back surgery, but don't use it now. I found it far more effective than most OTC and even other stuff like Bextra or celebrex.
If anyone wants the vioxx....

They pulled it because they found out - by accident, no less, studying something else - that users with no history of heart problems or strokes were over 50 percent more likely have have those problems after 18 months. It scared them so much they stopped the study they were working on, and recalled the product.
This is pretty much why the FDA is a joke. When you accept the studies of a drug company as your proof a drug is safe....this sort of thing happens.

There are advantages to drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex. Tylenol doesn't do anything for inflammation. Ibuprofen can, through a complicated pathway, promote stomach ulcers. Drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex are easier on the gut and are great for inflammation. So Vioxx's demise may be a bigger deal than some think.

it was something that only came up in a long-term study... and only in a pretty large sample. the effect isn't actually that striking on an individual level, so it's the kind of thing that simply couldn't have been discovered pre-market. not that i don't agree that asking a company to police itself isn't the best idea, in general...
