hey ... whats up my fans :wavey2:
lol.. anyways i went to my school counsler yesteday and im planning to transfer from community college to another place next fall and need to submit applications. well the counsler said i should apply to both san diego state and cal state LA .
im still thinkin about what i should do here. i have heard from alot of people that san diego state is very crowded and ppl usually might not be able to take the classes they want , but on the other side i really wanna get outta SD and goto LA for a couple reasons.
1- alot of persian ppl there
2- traffic :P - and not eveyrthing closes at 8pm
and i really wanna experince the complete independent life before i goto iran or whatever.
so im thinking for undergrad goin to cal state LA , and after 2 years for my graduate school goto san diego state which has an excellent business school..
any comments would be appreciated

Honestly, you should go to whatever the best school is that you can get into. School names and ranks all are taken into account by everyone once you graduate.
Think about it, would you hire a Harvard graduate, a SDSU graduate, or a University of Deleware graduate if all had a 3.4 gpa with a business degree?
Unless one of the schools has special meaning to you, you are going to go for the Harvard grad. Why? Simply because the name implies a more rigorous course of study and carries more weight.
If the schools are all on par with each other, then you take into account the location and decide on such criteria.

US News & World Report usually has a bunch of rankings. i believe they devote an issue to college rankings every year. Probably just google something like "Business School Rankings" or something.
I agree with the others about goin to a school with a good rep, but if you're going to get a masters degree, then people may put a lot less weight on your ugrad in terms of reputation. so no one's gonna care u went to cal state chico if you got an MBA from Harvard. at least, that's what i'd guess, i couuld be wrong!
remember, there's lots of other schools around LA area too, not just Cal State LA. since previous threads have implied money isn't really a problem for you, have you thought about a nice private school? classes are likely to be smaller, and you'll have a better chance at getting the classes you need cuz you don't have to battle thousands of other students for a spot.

As long as you have solid test scores and undergrad grades, you'll get into a master's program at a decent school. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

i don't know about the business program there, but i don't think UC Riverside is necessarily the highest ranking UC. (trying to phrase it diplomatically so as not to insult any UCR alums out there!). You'd be better off with UCLA or UCI. but if you're looking for more night life and you wanna go to UCI, be prepared to drive. Irvine closes down early, it's a "planned community", which means it's a tad... ummm... well, let's just say there's a reason it's one of the safest cities in California. but, i enjoyed it there. besides, anything u could ever want is w/in an hours drive away, and they had an excellant CS program. don't think they have a ugrad business degree though. you can only minor in mgmt. but the MBA program is supposed to be very high ranking.
here, found this (http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/rankbusiness_brief.php) for ya. should help.

my thought exactly!
What are you going to do with a business degree in iran?? Business/economy is SOO different there that i'm not sure if its going to help you practically, other than the fact that you have a piece of paper with your name on it.
If you want a high persian population you should go to UC Irvine.
Care to point a couple out? I've been here almost two years and i know only a handfull. Being in an engineering major there are practically no persians here. They're probably all in pre-med classes. Unfortunately persians are WAY too unorganized to have some kind of club.

Some fundamentals will work no matter where you are, but i know enough to know that the problems you have to deal with over there are different. For example, since its a growing economy, competition isn't as big a deal as actually getting the product out to market or being able to get the raw products to create your product.

Just spend a few moments in wholesome choice on Culver and Michelson and you will see alot.
Or go to the park on culver and university on persian new year and you will be overwelmed.

i was just checking some stuff about schools
there is this 1 school that has a quarterly classes .. meaning 4 , 11 week classes.
but seems most of the others have 3
i dont really get this lets say there is like math 1 , math 2 , math 3, math 4
does this mean you can take all 4 maths in 1 year ?
so the school that has the 4 . 11 week classes , one would be able IF they wanted to finish sooner and faster than the other school ?

No since it will take less credits to graduate from a semester (three 18-weeks) school like Fullerton. Also if you transfer from a semester system school to a quater system school, the credit counts as 1.5.

I am about half way done with my MBA at CSU Hayward. You want to make sure that the school is AACSB accredited. This is a tough thing for B-schools to get. Most of the decent ones have the western states acredidation, but only 2% have the AACSB one.
In regards to the quarter v. semester question. Personally I love the quarter system. It is tough because your time goes kinda like this week 1 intro, week 5 or 6 midterm, week 8 main project due, and week 11 Final. It seems really busy, but if you can work hard, it is cool. I also like it because you can take a really heavy couse load for a quarter and it only lasts 11 weeks. When I had semesters for the first two years of college I usually had two midterms, a final and a project in addition to homework and quizes. I also got bored with a class after about 12 weeks. Good luck with choosing your school. I would also consider what your emphasis or option will be. Some schools are not the highest rated overall, but they have a highly respected department for a certain option.
