according to /.

you can dnload CS:Source from Steam. However, you have to pay $50. But it also includes HL2 the full game. But you can only get HL2 the full game when it is officially released. So in the meantime, you will have chunks of the HL2 single player code encrypted and stored on your harddrive.

Anyways, I was wondering, does anyone know:

1) When the real retail box version of HL2 is coming out
2) If you get the retail box version of HL2, can you get the mods (CS, Dod, etc...) free, just like classic HL1? or do you have to pay for them and get them through Steam?
3) Why can't Valve and Vivendi settle their beef and freakin' release the damn game?

Rumor again, is in a few weeks or early Nov.
They were right about Source, so hopefully they will be on HL2

Lot of discussions about this. From what I understand, many DoD players are peeved in that you can only get DoD source from steam...(what they are lead to believe from what information is out/sources are telling them)

The HL2 Multiplayer however, IS CS: Source...or is supposed to be. That is what some game mags mentioned.

3) Why can't Valve and Vivendi settle their beef and freakin' release the damn game?

More hype I suppose :boxing:

There are 3 versions available... $49 and $89 and $59. The first 2 only available in stores, or you can get any of the 3 from steam. The cheap one only comes with HL2 and CS:Source, and you CAN NOT ADD ANY OTHER MODS... without paying for them. The second one comes with HL2, CSsource, DODsource, HL1source, +every HL1 mod + a Lamda Baseball cap, posters and crap.
The $59 one comes with all the same software as the $89 but none of the crap. It is only available thru steam and is clearly the best deal. I dont blame them, now they wont have to give half their profits to a publisher.

Plus if you were one of the people that got an ATI card with the free HL2 serial, you can DL CS:source (which I'm doing...) right now! You can also apply use the ATI serial as a coupon to upgrade your package to the Silver for $10.00 more or the Gold for $40. I'm thinking about the $10 upgrade...

Yeah, gold isnt worth it unless you really need a bunch of crap to clutter up your desk.
