Nice logo DF I gotta get me one of those. A couple of questions about your case. Is that your temperature lcd in the 5th bay up? Also, why do you have your top air vent covered in electrical tape? Is your floppy too loud? ;)

Nah... that "velcro tape" is not covering any vent holes, I just had my second temp thermometer (a Radio Shack special) removed when I took the picture. Pretty much I had a temp sensor at the top of the case (the one in the front) and one with a probe at the bottom so I could get a very good idea of how warm things were getting in there.

Right now, it has 5 hard drives (250GB, 200GB, 160GB, and two 120GB drives for a total of 850GB of storage) with a 550W Antec TruePower P/S.

Maybe one day, I'll just replace the 2 120GB drives for 2 250s or higher... but for now, I've been cool on space so I've just stayed put.

Yes... this is a manifestation of me having control of "The Man". :shifty: :D


But seriously... this case is a SuperMicro SC-750A which I've owned since approximately 1997. Back then, there weren't many "black cases" available especially in the full tower configuration.

My case, my monitor (a Viewsonic P815 Pro Series), and my keyboard are the only 3 things that I still have from the FIRST time I built my own computer (which back then was a Celeron 266 OC'd to 424Mhz).

Honestly, if I ever were to replace this case (which will probably be never... unless that new mobo standard kicks in) I'd probably go to a Black case in the future. But this one has SO much room and so much flexibility (it has 2 sets of drive cage rails...so theoretically, I could have as many as eight hard drives in it without even having to use any of my 5 1/4 bays) that I just can't bring myself to part with her.

Who knows... maybe one day I'll take her to a paint and body shop and have her "candy coated" or something. :D

Anybody that's a pimp knows that its not the size of your drive, its how fast and well you use it.


2x36GB LP36, 2x73GB X15.3, and 2x 10k 2.5" 73GB SCSI drives.
