View Full Version : Copying files from the A drive...you heard right, the A drive...

I am working with a C+ or C++ based little educational program for school and it's on a floppy. My issue is that I cannot copy all the files from the floppy to the HD. The program will work if I do Run -> A:\program.exe, but I need all the files to run the program from my HD. Any ideas?
Also, the program isn't something I can find on the web to DL or buy. I think it was specifically made for my professor. And if this means anything to anyone, the extension of the file that won't transfer is .BTD. Any help is appreciated.

maybe there are some hidden files?
theres probably a "copy all" option somehow, maybe by using the copy command from the prompt with the appropriate [-option]

Open a command prompt -
Switch to the A:\ drive: 'a:'
You can type 'dir /ah' to show any hidden files on the disk.
Create a directory on your C:\ drive: 'md c:\program'
Copy all files (including hidden files):
'a:\xcopy *.* c:\program /e /h /k'
That should do it, if it's just hidden files that are not copying.

Thanks for the advice. I did the xcopy, but it didn't seem to work. Strangely enough, the program worked without the one file that I thought I needed, even though on previous copying attempts when I didn't get the file the program didn't work. Go figure.
