Just got a VERY official looking email from "Paypal"... says to update my account settings etc... goes to this ip:

69.20.6.156

BUT, that accound has been hacked and there is a cgi-bin folder that comes up with a paypal page... EVERYTHING on the page looks official, unless you are using XP SP2. in Win 2k even the address bar says its at paypal.com/whatever.... HOWEVER, in xp, you get to see that its a text overlay thats supposed to overlay the "69.20.6.156" in teh address bar with the paypal.com address.

BEWARE - this is the best impersonation page i've seen YET. ITs REALLY good.

Maybe you should let the people know their account was hacked.

I got that about 2 weeks ago. It was very good and I almost fell for it. I have win2k on my laptop and was tired and not on the "alert" when it came up. I almost started to fill things in when I decided to check though paypal first. That is when I saw the warning on Paypal about this latest scam and I forwarded it to them immediately. #@$&*! people engineering scams.

I seem to get things like that once in awhile. Often it is from somebody I either never used or haven't used in ages so if they are asking for me to update my account information, I assume it is a scam. If I use them in the future and THEN they ask for updated information (ie I initiated the contact), then I will provide it. Otherwise I just delete it. If you respond (even by clicking on a "remove from list" link) it just puts you on a list for more junk.
