ipod microphone

anyone have a microphone for their ipod? im looking into getting one so that i can record my lectures and listen to them at a later date. ive found ones by belkin and griffin, but the reviews seem kinda at the ends of the spectrum (either really good or really bad. no in between)

I think you would be better off getting the one that has a mic input also, so then you could buy a separate mic that would be fit for recording from a further distance because from what I've read the current mic only options are more for close ranged recordings.
