and i already have one stick of Samsung PC2700 (DDR333) 512MB

and my motherboard doesnt have the Dual Channel feature that you guys all love.

so, does it still matter if my 2nd 512MB stick IS NOT a Samsung? if my 2 ram sticks dont arent of the same brand, will it matter?

Two sticks of identical memory is generally the best, most stable option.... however you might get by with memory that is not from Samsung...

Honestly, I don't think it is worth the hassle of messing with non equal memory... just go get another stick of Samsung and save yourself some headaches. :D

i was scouring newegg.com and they didnt have any Samsung sticks in stock. i looked up Pricewatch.com, and honestly i dont trust any of those smaller "lesser known" stores.

i did a search on these forums, seeing where folks buy their memory, and ZipZoomFly.com keeps getting mentioned. Being unfamiliar with that store and having never been to the site, I went ahead and checked it out.

LO AND BEHOLD! ITS GOOGLEGEAR!!!! (i totally forgot about GoogleGear's name change, and its been over 2 years since I've been to that store, which happens to be the last time i was building my comp...)

and guess what? they have Samsung sticks, in stock!

Good job... ZipZoomFly is my internet retailer of choice (with NewEgg a close second. :thumb: )
