heh, just wanted to know from other people who are computer savy, if you had LOTS of dough, and you can buy any parts that are on the market right now, how good (i always thought the fastest comp would be the best) a rig can you make? Share your imaginary specs!!

VoodooPC Aims to Release World’s First AMD PCI Express PC

VoodooPC, a leading maker of high-performance personalized computer systems, plans to announce on Monday the launch of the world’s fastest gaming computer, the Voodoo RAGE SLi, which will become the world’s first AMD-based machine with PCI Express bus.

Voodoo RAGE SLi computer system is based on NVIDIA nForce4 SLI core-logic and AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 microprocessor. VoodooPC will be able to incorporate a couple of GeForce 6800 GT/Ultra or GeForce 6600 GT graphics cards for boost performance in NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU mode. It is expected that the system will contain certain devices from ASUSTeK and Hitachi.

The VoodooPC RAGE SLi will be the first personal computer running AMD Athlon 64 chips with PCI Express bus. Previously only Intel-based PCs featured the new interconnection technologies. The main point for gamers to buy the RAGE SLi will be its astonishing performance in games, as AMD Athlon 64 FX microprocessors typically outperform Intel Pentium 4 or Xeon chips in gaming environment.

“With RAGE SLi the popular title Doom III runs smoother than ever, at over 107 frames per second at 1600x1200 with high detail. In laymen’s terms that means the game play is smoother than silk – to put this in perspective, current high end gaming systems will run Doom III with the same settings at 30 frames per second,” the company’s statement claims.

In late October, 2004, Alienware, another leading maker of high-end systems for gamers, started to ship its high-end personal computers with two NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra graphics cards that deliver extreme performance in games. The computers are based on Intel Xeon processors and Intel’s E7525 core-logic. VoodooPC’s RAGE SLi is likely to beat Alienware’s new Area-51 ALX in numerous 3D gaming benchmarks because NVIDIA’s nForce4 SLI chipset contains special enhancements that allow its PCI Express lanes to operate more efficiently when two graphics cards are installed.

The Canada-based high-end PC maker does not unveil the timeframes of commercial availability of the RAGE SLi in its statement, but the firm claims RAGE SLi is the first of many NVIDIA SLI-based systems that VoodooPC will be launching. Pricing of the RAGE SLi was also not clear at press time
