Alriight, my dad wants me to research prices for this plumbing organization he's in. they want a laptop/projector in order to do their presentations.

i think i have the laptop part down, just spend about $1000 from dell, or any dell laptop. only thing that really needs is a VGA out for the projector, right??? i can order it WITH the microsoft office suite so they'll have powerpoint. all i would need from them is some kind of handheld thing to switch slides

then comes the harder part i don't know much about -- the projector. obviously it has to be portable. most of the stuff they do is in smaller rooms, i'm guessing average classroom size. but sometimes they do big lectures, with maybe a couple hundred people, obviously a bigger room.

i'm looking for recommendations on a nice portable unit, i guess something that can be mounted and/or table top (don't know if all are that way), and has a good picture for either room. i don't think they're looking on spending a TON of money, but i said it'd be $2500 to $3000 total.

thanks!

I would suggest that you check out www.projectorpeople.com I have been working with Jeff there and he has been willing to give me advice as to what projector I should buy, even if it is not the most expensive one they have in my price range. The main criteria that you need to consider....If they are primarly doing powerpoint I would strongly suggest a LCD projector. If this will be used for meetings of over 200, you will probably be using a screen about 9'x12', and you will want a projector with at least 2000 lumens.

I wasn't planning on selling it until next month, but I own a Hitachi x328w that has about 75 hours on it total that I would be up for selling. Email me if interested. This projector has only been used for company meetings on a 9'x12' screen and it is in perfect condition.

yeah. i've read that LCD projectors are better for presentations since you don't really need that colorwheel thing that DLP projectors use.
