Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Pac Bell requires you to purchase one of the phones they carry in order to use their service. I thought it was true for most wireless carriers, too.

i know that, but i got a free phone from them, but i want a different one, and I was looking for a site to get a good deal on one. After I get pac bell phone all i have to do is put its chip in the new phone I buy. Does anyone know of a site to get phones for good prices

Found this link on another board. converseuniverse.com (http://www.converseuniverse.com/) sells phones without service. Price are retail, so not much of a deal, but you'll get what you're looking for.
