I'm sending emails (Word format) fom MS Outlook...and after any are sent, the system freezes and I can't close the window or create any forward or backward movement at all. In fact... have to reboot to get back to my Outlook Files and then same thing after next email. The emails do arrive according to recipients. Also, Outlook won't come up when clicking my desktop icon or from any other source until after reboot. Have not looked too deeply at other programs within MS Office 2000 to see if they work yet. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you...

Ihad a similar problem with my home computer- turned out it was something related to my Norton Antivirus so I disabled having it scan outgoing mail. No problems now.

If you have Norton Anti-virus, open it and click on Options. On the left side then you should see a line for "E-Mail", click that and it will show them. If there is a dot in the circle for "Scan Outgoing E-Mail", click on the circle to remove the dot. Do not uncheck the dot for scanning incoming mail- you still want that. There should be a place at the bottom to save the changes I think. If you have a different antivirus, there should be something similar. That should do it. Hope that works for you!

"ZJ"...went to Norton AV and NO email protection was checked, so I did as you recommended and checked incoming.
Could there be a compatibility issue with XP Pro and MS Office 2000 (Outlook)? The Outlook page here does not include XP in it's OS list under system requirements.
Thanks!

Don't know about that. I use just the XP home. Perhaps you need to update your Outlook (which is a part of Internet Explorer)? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1e1550cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&displaylang=en
Anybody else?
Maybe you can find something here? http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/2000/default.asp

Okay...I went to running processes and found Outlook running 7 or 8 places. Must be as a result of trying outlook.exe /safe. Ended all but one and the Outlook inbox appeared. Was then able to open emails and send again, but when attempting to close the document, the top bar AND program tray icon began to blink...the tray icon blinked ORANGE. Clicked on another tray icon and the "do you want to save changes" message popped up...clicked NO, and it allowed me to close the window. It does this sporadically. I Don't know how long this behavior will last, but is this a common occurrence with Outlook?
