Hey guys, please help!
When I boot my computer it goes to a blue screen that says there has been a REGESTRY_ERROR. It says if i have installed any new hardware to remove it. I havent installed any new hardware. I tried to boot from my DELL windows disk (i cant find my normal XP pro disk), I tried to fix the problem but it comes up saying that I dont have a hard drive installed. So I checked the BIOS and it has no hard drive detected.
I HAVE a hard drive installed, and when windows attempts to load it shows the splash screen (so it must be getting info from the hard drive right?)
It is a S-ATA if that makes a diff... PLEASE HELP, SOMEONE, ANYONE!!

Check the hard drive jumpers.... If two are in masters, there could be a conflict... Try clearing the CMOS... Try removing the S-ATA hard drive and booting with the IDE ones... Check whether S-ATA ROM is enabled in the Bios....

Have you been tinkering with the computer's innards? On older computers, it's easy to connect the IDE cable to the hard drive on the wrong side.

Okay, you are using XP, right? does the boot screen say something like INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE? If so, XP is not loading the driver for your S-ATA controller. If not, please let me know what the top line in the blue screen says.
Can you boot into Safe Mode? If not, you can also try to boot from Last Good Config. Instructions (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307852&sd=tech)
This should get you started. Get us info and we will get you going.

If you want to boot from the Windows XP install disk you need the floppy that contains your SATA drivers. When the install starts it comes up and askes if you need to use a 3rd party controller. Press the button for that option and you should be instructed to insert the SATA driver disk. It will then be able to recognize the hard drive.

It is specific to the motherboard you have. Go to the website for the motherboard model you have and download the SATA drivers.
