I really could use some help getting my sister a field hockey stick for her birthday. What she really wants is an STX field hockey stick that I believe sells for around $80.00 at fogdog. ( http://www.fogdog.com/cedroID/ssd2320191657799/wld/fogdog_sports/stx/field_hockey/equipment/ceramic_field_hockey_stick.html/link=More/Field%20Hockey/1F/Sticks )

She needs size 36 with a midi toe.
Does anyone know of anywhere else I can get a better deal or any fogdog coupon combos I can use? I know they accept flooz, so that should help a little. If anyone knows of anyother deals for comporable sticks such as grays, etc. that would be helpful also.
Thanks everyone!

Check out Dick's sports. I think it is dsports.com. There is a deal for 15% off from there posted in Got Deals. My girlfriend played with a Grays stick in college but she said they gave her the stick. She said they aren't hard to find though. Good luck.

Bubba, having played field hockey competitively for a number of years (it's not just a girls' sport in other countries) the STX sticks are not competitive with the Greys stick they list there. For less money, get the Greys Karachi King, 36 midi. Unless your sister is taller than 5'9", that sounds like a pretty long stick. Outside of the states, no-one has heard of STX, they're a lacrosse manufacturer, am I wrong?
Anyway, yeah, the Karachi is a near-pro level stick, has great balance, and is REALLY durable. I had friends that had theirs for three to four years. I think if you do a check on the forums, there are fogdog coupons for 20% off. Used them to get a pair of Pippins for $50.

Thanks for the advice. I will definetly have to look into the Greys sticks. Does anyone know of an e-tailor selling these sticks?

I don't know how much you want to spend, but if you're looking for a really great brand of stick, yes, Greys are very reputable, long tradition. I was always a Gryphon man, myself, but I haven't seen them in stores recently. The new brand that I've been seeing a lot of my friends play with now are TK's. My brother recently bought one, and good god, it's a gorgeous stick, seems very well made. There are pro-level sticks that would make your jaw drop. I don't know if they can be bought online, and imagine they do not have discounts. Look for something with a model number 2 or higher. If she's a defender, check out the black stick (2, I think?). If she plays elsewhere, definitely look at the 1, 1+, or the 0. Hope that helps.

Hey, whaddya know, I had some time on my hands. Check this site out, their prices are in line with what you were looking at, and they're sticks are way, WAY better. http://www.longstreth.com/fieldhockey2000/fieldhockey.htm
Like I said, TK's a very hot brand right now, and I always played with Gryphon Equipes. They had a sale on Gryphons, might want to look at those. Good hunting.
