http://www.buy.com/retail/product_jump.asp?sku=10387999&SearchEngine=Froogle&SearchTerm=10387999&Type=PE&Category=Comp&dcaid=17379

Or $225 at Newegg http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?submit=Go&DEPA=0&CMP=OTC-Froogle&description=N82E16814150080

Just a tad over your $200 and it beats the 9800 Pro and sometimes the X800 Pro as well.

AGP I'd go with the 6600GT, pci-e go with the x700pro.

Heh.. I might have to make this my Christmas present to myself.

My GeForce 4 4800 is getting pretty long in the tooth now. :D

The Ge-Force 6800 nu will be $199 at CompUSA on Black Friday. Might be worth waiting for that.

Also, the BFG 6800 OC is $249 at Outpost.com/Fry's. You may want to consider that as well.

Personally, I would get the PNY 6800 for $199 at CompUSA on the 26th. Just get there early.

So please tell... what is special about the GeForce 6800 NU versus the other 6800s...

I really have been out of the loop as far as new video cards are concerned.

Also, I remember someone saying something about the 6800s having some problems with some games versus the equivalent Radeon offerings. Is that true or not?

This review includes comparisons with most of the cards mentioned here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/ati-radeon-x700-games.html

6800 non-ultra (different review) http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/graphics-cards-2004_53.html
"The GeForce 6800 stands somewhat aloof from the row of new-generation solutions. With its 12 pipelines, this GPU should have been pitted against the RADEON X800 Pro, but NVIDIA equipped it with slow memory clocked at 700MHz. Thus they reduced the cost of the product but also reduced its performance. As a result, the GeForce 6800 doesn’t suit well for high resolutions and hard modes since its good NV40 architecture is hamstringed by the slow memory and less efficient methods of using it. Sometimes the GeForce 6800 even loses to the GeForce FX 5950 Ultra, not mentioning the RADEON 9800 XT and the X800 Pro. In new games, however, this graphics card feels at ease, especially if you don’t do full-screen anti-aliasing. At a recommended price of $299 it can make a good buy.

In spite of its not very efficient memory subsystem, the GeForce 6800 feels better than the competitors in the 1600x1200 resolution. Unfortunately, $300 graphics cards don’t run newer games in this resolution at a comfortable speed, so you should consider 1280x1024 first, and in this resolution the GeForce 6800 and the RADEON 9800 XT and even the GeForce FX 5950 Ultra all feel quite confident."

I think CompUSA has the GF 6800 on sale for $199.99 after rebate(s) on "black Friday".

I bought the card today at 299.99 and I hope to go back on BF to pricematch it. Hopefully it works since I doubt on friday there'll be any left in the store.

Thats a good plan. Definitly YMMV, but good plan anyway.

My buddy actually is planning on that as well... the good news is that a manager saw him purchasing it & mentioned that he had just picked up the same one. My friend said he was planning on coming back & pricematching & the manager said that he was planning on doing the same thing.

Good luck!

Yeah... I went and took a look at it online after I posted that question.

I think I might stop by there this afternoon to see if they still have anymore available today... cause it's gonna be a mad house on Friday.

6600 is a great card, but remember it was supposed to be in the $150 -$200 price range. I would have picked an 6600 AGP card to tie me over for $150ish, but I'm not paying a 25% premium for something that will drop as soon as factories are geared up and Ati brings the competition. If you can hold off for a month I think you will save 20 -30%/ Even the $150ish 9800's will drop big when that happens.

I am wondering if the dual Nvidia Cards will be worth it later. Dual 6600's are barely faster than a 6800GT. So at $150 each it might be worth getting 2, but not at $2xx.

I didn't ask him...

Either way, they have a "return policy" of normally 14 days... and with Christmas, i can return it up until Jan 8th if it remains unopened (which it shall).

:D Buying it today was just an "insurance policy". :D

I got a GeForce 6800 for $138 (including tax)... and that's before the $30 rebate!!! OMG!!! :wow:

Can you say "deal of the year"? (well... maybe 2nd best deal of the year after the $20 WD 200 GB Hard Drive) :thumb: :D

Sweet deal! They probably manually entered the $70 off price and their computer automatically re-deducted the $70 discount! Best $100 card ever!

Some people are reporting really bad 2d performance with some of the PNY 6800's. If yours looks really fuzzy and black text bleeds into white backgrounds, thats more than likely a card problem and not the monitor.

Seriously?

Dayuuum... :2far:

I wonder if this is something that can be complained about....

EDIT: I was using the newest Nvidia drivers (66.93) however from the PNY site they only support up to 61.76... so I rolled back the driver.

So far it's a little better... but far from perfect. /sigh
