okay. this one should be fun to figure out.
so my step-mother-in-law emailed me to ask me to help her with a "computer problem." from what i can gather, she must be doing something really, really, really, REALLY dumb (she's a my-cupholder-is-broken kinda gal :P ) ... but it's so dumb that i can't even hazard a guess as to what might be going on. i probably need to say something like "are you sure you're like, clicking on the icon?" but i don't want to make her feel like an idiot... so any guesses and advice would be much appreciated...
here's an amalgam of the problem from emails, in her own words...
I need some tekki advice--I have never been able to open an email attachment. Yours are fine because the photos run at the bottom of the message. But whenever I get a message with just the paper clip in the upper right hand corner--nothing happens. I click on the clip and 2 boxes display--the top one to open and the bottom to save to disc and regardless of which one I click--zilch. Any suggestions?? By the way--this is with the new Dell--never had a problem on the old computer and we're using the Brick network for both.
no box appears when I click save and I had tried right clicking before to no avail. Do you think I should call Brick--would they have anything to do with providing the info for the attachments?
I'm using Outlook Express in Windows (XP I think). Whatever version came with the new machine.
