I won an ebay auction and the person said:

HTH and thanks!

Any clue what this means?

like BI said, "hope this helps."

it's an ambiguous term that can either be a sincere expression of "i hope my information was helpful," or a snide, sarcastic insult (example: let's say BI posts a question about changing a battery in a casio watch. i post a reply that says "people who wear casio watches are pigf***ers. HTH.")

it sounds like in this case the person was just being nice.

i guess it depends on what you are bidding on.

Hold the horseradish?

Handle the ham?

Hope this hurts?

It means "How the hell?" As in, "How the hell did YOU win my auction?"

Saw a shirt today that said HTH: Help the Homeless.
