Got my DS :)

Went to Eb today at 11 and picked up my Nintendo DS. I'm not going to take pictures of it since there are plenty for you to see online.

It's a nice sleek machine. Graphics are impressive for a handheld. I'm just not sold on the whole "analog thumbstick" through the touch pad thing that both Metroid Hunters and Mario 64 DS uses. It makes you hold your thumb in an awkward place...I guess it's going to take a while getting used to. But it's a work of art.

One other comment. This thing SOUNDS GOOD. The gba speakers weren't that great, but this thing has some pretty nifty speakers. It has pretty good stereo capabilties that are even evident in the DS menus.

This is one impressive piece of hardware. Hopefully, there will be some kickass software for it.

I played a demo at EB. It's not very "pocketable". I play the metroid demo and it takes getting used to aiming and strafing. I wanna see how the PSP is.

I have a feeling that the DS will be that toy that parents are punching each other at toysrus to get this Xmas season...

The hardware itself is stunning. But it needs great games to keep alive. I know it's REALLY early, but it's launch lineup isn't something that catches the eye. Mario 64 DS is great, but not outstanding.

Nintendo needs to bring its big guns. Zelda, new Mario, Metroid (which it is coming out with) must come out fairly soon.

Btw I'm going to look carefully at the PSP. The screen on that baby is amazing. But I'm shocked by it's 2 hour battery lifespan...that's not right...

Oh Man, I just got my DS today. It's freaking amazing! I love it already. It's awesome. Love it.
