well more and more of the recipes i want to cook are calling for a crockpot and i am getting tired of chopping all this stuff by hand so i am looking for a food processor/blender.

Been holding out because i have roommates who don't always clean everything so i hate having them use all my appliances and not use/clean them correctly.

Anyways with xmas upcoming i thought i would find some good ones to have my parents give me for a present.

Anyone have any suggestions? a crockpot with a timer would be nice to have, though i could rig it up like my dehydrator hooked up to a xmas light timer ha ha.

America's Test Kitchen (http://www.americastestkitchen.com/default.shtml)

Try That link, they test a lot of products and what not. They are normally pretty good on what they give good ratings. Check it out.

crockpot... they all work. i've never seen anything special about any of em. get a used one for a dollar at a yard sale.

for food chopping, i use a zyliss thingy... i know they sell them at williams-sonoma, it's around $20. you just bang on the top, and it has this wavy blade thingy that spins a quarter turn with each whack and does an excellent job. easy to clean.

or, get a food chopper attachment for whatever brand blender you have. i have one for my sunbeam; don't use it nearly as much as i do the hopper-chopper.

I like my crockpot that has 4 different time settings, also, make sure you get one with a removable crock. I think they all are now, but make sure. I'm seconding WF suggestion on the chopper. I use mine 5 times more often than my food processer.
