For many years the company I'm with has always shut down from Christmas to New Years. Unfortunately, we got a human resources manager that took lessons from Catbert (or perhaps it was the other way around). A few years ago he was in the office during the shutdown and picked up a call that ended up being a customer complaining about no one answering the phone. Of course, he set out to end the year-end shutdown, or at least wait until mid-October to announce a shutdown that you had to save 3 or 4 sick-personal or vacation days for or lose pay. :mad2:
Well, Catbert has left the company. :) And they recently announced that the year end shutdown is on for this year, and they are giving us three extra holidays (and folding the New Years holiday from Monday Jan 2 to the shutdown period). So the last day of work this year is Dec 23. Yay!
