so my mother in law has a signed Salvidor Dali print that she wants to sell. What's the best way? Ebay doesn't look to be the best option based on the number of bids for items out there now.

Does she have any authentification of the print and its signature? There are tons of Dali fakes - probably the most forged artist out there. He was even forced to sign thousands of sheets of blank paper in his later years so they could continue to make more prints after he died. Without that, it is basically worthless. Even authentification can be fake. Doubtful any galleries would buy it from her or be willing to exchange it for something else unless perhaps she got it from them- even in that remote chance they would at best offer her a small fraction of its value. I have a couple of Dali prints myself- some definately genuine, some could be questioned. I still think eBay will get you the best price for it. This why people should buy art because they like it, not because they hope to make money from it. Good luck!
If it is a valuable piece and she has either no or a weak authenticity, the Salvadore Dali Archives are THE recognized authority on Dali works and can verify the piece for you for $150. Their authentifications are unquestioned and would increase the price you could get for it as well as make it easier to sell. If it is valuable, it may be worth the money spent. http://daliarchives.com/authentication_form.htm

I was going to ask whether it was an original or lith, serio, or other limited edition print that is numbered/signed. We own an original Dali....have had it my entire life. Its actually a religious themed piece which is from a different period then his surreal time that most people know.
I have unfortunately seen a lot of people who dont understand artwork and try to sell museum prints of art work as originals. (Not the kind that had Philadelphia Museum of Art printed below it but rather just full prints of the original signed work)

I had a similar sitution where i acquired a limited edition etching that was signed by Jeness Cortez with its letter of authenticty

Its supposed to eb worth about 3k.
I didnt have a clue where I could sell it so I gave it to my Manager who is obsessed with horse racing as a going away gift (our company was being bought out).
I shoulda asked here.

well, we know it's authentic (i don't know who she used, but she's got 2 certificates). she didn't buy it to make money, she bought it because she liked it at the time. it's one of his religious pieces like UFCrusher has and she just doesn't want it anymore.
maybe i'll put it up on ebay with a reserve and just see what we get.

If you know of an aproximate apraised value, you could also donate it to a charitable cause and deduct the value of it from your income if you itemize. Consult a tax expert for details such as the documentation you may need, including a receipt from the agency you donate it to. Perhaps some proof of the value of the piece as well. I know you do need paperwork on donations exceeding $250.

It was appraised for $1500 1 year ago if i remember correctly. I'll be taking pics at christmas, i forgot my camera over thanksgiving.
She doesn't want to donate for a write off because that makes it not worth getting rid of.
