Today was the first time I went out on BF, got to Staples at 5:40 and waited behind maybe 50 people. Got everything I wanted there. Here is the score:

Netgear wireless g router and PC Card $20 AR
Maxtor 160 GB HDD 7200 RPM 8 MB CACHE $40 AR
I/O Magic (BenQ Drive) 16X DVD+/-R Dual Layer Burner $40 AR
512 MB SD Sandisk $30 AR
40 DVD+R Media $3 AR

Called later and got in on a flaming deal with catalog order using a sub of the OOS I/O Magic drive:

HP DVD630i (Liteon Drive) 16X Dual Layer DVD Burner $10 AR

I also got in on a hot deal through Amazon/Circuit City and did in-store pickup:

2 Sandisk MemStickPro Duo 512 MB $35 each NO REBATE (The price is listed as $91.19 each now)

I was hoping to get a wireless Microsoft wireless keyboard mouse combo @ Office Depot for $15 AR, but they were out. I still got this there though:

Memorex 1 GB Thumb Drive $50 AR

I realize I did pay $10 more for the HDD than $30 BB had it for, but I did not want to go to WorstBuy on BF. I thought Staples had some decent deals worth going there for, couldn't help ordering one more DVD burner for $10 after rebate. Hopefully their Easy Rebate system will be working soon, I want to get them submitted before I forget.

Update:

I bought the Dual branded 2 12" subwoofers in the bandpass enclosure with 460W amp for $130. I thought it was REALLY REALLY bad crap, but the Best Buy guy let me listen to it, and it could thump pretty well for $130 with amp included, so it's just kinda bad now. :)

My dad got:
50" Sony LCD projection HDTV
Infinity 5.1 surround sound system

Well, up here in Canada, we don't have this "Black Friday" stuff -- I guess that's reserved for boxing day here.

Still, today was the day that I bought my last Christmas gift -- the one for myself. Seeing as I finished my other Christmas shopping early, and I had money to spare, I decided to opt for a camera upgrade. My old camera was the 3.2 megapixel Olympus C-740UZ, and now I have a nice Canon Powershot A95 (5-megapixel). :) Sure I lose out on some zoom, but I gain some extra megapixels, and a camera that is just a little easier to carry around (I didn't really take advantage of the zoom).

Decided not to go shopping today. One of my buddies went to Fry's and was going to pick up the $47 digital camera for me but didn't get there in time. Oh well.

I stayed away. I heard that the line at the local Fry's went around 3 corners of the building at opening time.

When i had to call a cupport number, i was talking to a canadian tech. He stated something about yall have clazy labor laws/laws. Something about that you cannot be open that early in the morning as a retail outlet. Also something like 10 yrs ago all stores were closed on sundays, so wierd. Petrol also seems to be expensive, .75-,85 canadian a liter. Also Horse power was measured in kilowatts which 1 killowatt is equal to 1.34 HP. [/canadian rant]

Well this year, yet again...we were out and about before the sun was up. I arrived at Circuit City about 5:30 since there wasnt anything that I needed that would be such a small quantity that being in the store 2 minutes earlier would really help. Unfourtnately....since I am a gimp by the time I parked and hobbled to the end of the line it had grown by 20 odd people. Including some idiot who saw me and intentionally ran past me to get in front of me. Dumb fucting Indian who stank to high heaven. (No, his nationality isnt what pissed me off, but rather his action so dont take that the wrong way.)

Last night, we had ordered a bunch of the stuff online: APC 350 unit, memory stick reader, wireless headphones, and dvd case. I couldnt get the wireless router, card, cdr's, samsonite case, or any of the movies then. As such, those were my targets.

When I got in the store, I headed for the router/card first....grabbed it without any trouble. Then I went for the cdrs....they were gone. Then the samsonite case....all out too. My mother asked for one of those cheapo dvd players...so I got that and all the dvds music that we wanted. As I was waiting in line I managed to get the cdrs too. So besides the case which I didnt need, I got everything there that I wanted.

At the same time, my wife, mother, and father in law were at staples. There we grabbed the I/o magic dvd writer 16x dual format/ dual layers, leather chair, FAR calculator, FAR Norton, 2 256mb jump drives, kodak picture paper, 40 pack dvd-r - $5, 40 pack dvd+r - $5, and I think that was it for there.

After circuit, I hit Home Depot for the cordless Ryobi drill and bit sets. $10 and $15 respectively.

Then to Goodguys to pre-order Spiderman 2 for $9.99 to pick up on Tuesday.

Stopped by Costco but didnt get anything but a free cookbook.

At this point we had to unload my truck at our place before continuing on....so we ran home.

Figuring that the crowds might have been smaller up at the new Vista BB and Fry's we headed up that way.

BestBuy - Looking for cds/dvds and if anything caught our fancy -- grabbed the second or third copy of this cd for my sister since it was cheaper than the first 2 times. $9.99 -->$8.99 (didnt get it figuring it would cost more than $1 in time and gas to either pricematch or return) -->$7.99. Saw that they had the APC 750 UPC for $5 more than the 350 I had ordered last night. (We ended up getting 4 total...1 for me, 1 for my mother, 1 for my father in law, and 1 for my grandfather in law)

Final stop was Frys in Vista. - looking for the $9.99 Panasonic plain paper fax -- First off, if you have the chance to stop in there, it was the nicest Fry's I have ever been to. It has huge salt water fish tanks, a cafeteria, and is probably the largest Frys I have been to. I was definitely surprised by that fact. Unfortunately they were out of the fax, but we did find that same g-d damn cd for cheaper for the 4th time! So I now have 2 copies to return.

Back home and in bed by 12:00pm.

All in all, a pretty successful day. We only missed 2 things from our definite buy list, 1 of which was a whim item that I already have from last year. I still need to find a new computer, but nowhere would have a deal on what I would like.

I got a headache-a bad one..from being with the entire family on Thanksgiving..(loud,crazy Italians)...I was also cheesecake deprived because my brothers scarfed up all the sugar free cheesecake before I could set my claws into a big ol' piece of it...then I had to go into work for 4 hours..blah. Can we redo BF so that I can have a chance to get some good sales

I think that was the UPS that was really cheap after MIR. Hope you did it on seperate transactions, most of those rebates are one per customer per household.

Yeah, it was $19 AR and of course it was done in four separate transactions with four different addresses. Same thing I had to do for the Spiderman 2 dvd.

I don't go anywhere near the Mall on the day after thanksgiving nor the week before Christmas. I try to order as much as possible online, get gift certificates or buy everything from one store. I hate fricken shopping. I will even ask friends to pick things up for me if I know they are going to the mall. I heard people were charging $20 for their parking spots and people were paying. WTF is up with that.

Well at first I walked out with a $200 17inch LCD monitor, MS Wireless mouse and a keyboard. I returned the first two items because the mouse was ugly and no back/fwd buttons. My dryer broke so I needed the dryer more than I need a monitor. Sigh.

I was at CompUSA and I got there at 5am. ABout 50th in line. Not too bad. I was in and out in 20 minutes but I could've been out sooner if I didn't have to take a 5 minute dump. Sorry for sharing. Then my gf got a phone call from her sister who was at Best Buy and experiencing her first BF event. Ah rookies...spent most of the time worrying about her friend and looking for him rather then standing in line. So we had to meet them at Best Buy and stand in line with them. So I think we left there in about 1.5 hours.

Target was much faster...nobody was there so again 30 minutes. Bunch of DVDs.
