While I am using up the last of my vacation, I was going to call Stanley Steamer or one of those steam clean places and get the carpets done. Are they really worth it or is the thing I can rent a Lowes just as good?

Thoughts?

if you have the money call in a reputable service to do the job.

if you have the money, pay someone else to do it... if you'd rather spend time and save money, rent a machine. they're easy to use and work well. just factor in the cost of the cleaning solution you will need to buy.

my parents own a small steam cleaner that i use often. even that works quite well.

Since our house had white berber carpet when we bought it, my wife and I purchased a Bissell steam cleaner. It has done an excellent job getting out stains.

If you have a friend that has one, you can go that route. Otherwise, pay someone.

Thanks for the advice.

You know, as I was writing the original post I though... "How can I word this so no one will make dirty comments" Then I saw that Nickel had the first post and I knew it was downhill from there :)
