I am looking at a new Dell system. They have great deals on LCDs with their systems.

Besides size, is there a quality/performance difference between the 1905FP and 2001FP?

Are any of these OK for action games? e.g. doom3, halflife etc..

X800 SE OK for these games? or is it really necessary to get the X800 Pro to XT?

All the extra money to get the performance for these games.....I think the option of getting an Xbox could be a better solution..........

Thanks!

The native res of the 19 is 1280 x 1024 and the res of the 20" is 1600 x 1200. I think the 20" has 15ms rise and fall. Not sure about the 19" but my 18" dell is 25ms.
You will need a very high end system to game at good fps with the 20". If you don't mind lowering the res for gaming, you should be fine with the x800. I'd grab the 2001 or you could grab the widescreen 2005 (12 ms). I just picked up the widescreen and it's really nice. With the delf 25% and $35 -$45 off coupon either LCD comes out to around $550.

Get the 2005 but don't upgrade to X800SE. Save your $$$ and buy a X800Pro or XT or GF 6800 GT or Ultra.

2005 vs. 2001fp?

How many games do widescreen? Is the 2005 a better screen than the 2001fp? (regardless of size/widescreen etc)

Widescreen = higher resolution

The 2001fp is 1600x1200 and the 2005fpw is 1680x1050.
Not much difference, but technically the 2001fp is higher resolution.

I wonder how non-widescreen games look on it. Does it show bars on the sides like a TV does?

btw- I have the 2001fp and love it for gaming! It is a significantly better lcd than the 18 or 19", but I don't know who makes the 2005fpw panel to comment on it.

I also think the 20 inch is great for gaming. Haven't experienced any ghosting problems.

The downside to widesreen monitors is the lack of support for many games so you end up with the bars on the side and as a result, a smaller viewing screen.

I have the 2005 and it rocks.... but it had 2 stuck pixels and a little too much light coming thru the corners. I'm waiting on a replacement from dell. If this doesn't work out I think I'll grab that HP 23" (apple) Display and wait on gaming until I can afford a new system. Btw, I havent gamed on 2005 yet. Not really worth trying with my 3200+/9700np.If anyone wants to lend their 6800 AGP, I'll be happy to bench the hell out it. :) D3/HL2, etc. EQ has a widescreen mode I'd like to check out. Movies look good so far. There is a small bar because it's 16/10 instead of the 16/9 ratio, but no biggie really.

It looks like a 17" + a third of a 17" added on with higher resolution. Nice adjustable height stand and you can swivel the monitor verticle for long spreadsheets, etc.

12ms is grey to grey so it actually performs closer to a 16ms Lcd. No ghosting so far for me. Dual DVI inputs and a couple of others for HT stuff. Some USB ports that should come in handy.

I would grab this over the 2001 just because of movies and gaming. I really like having a 2 browsers up. I plan to try one browser and HL2 in a side window this weekend.

Good time.
