one of the great joys of the season is eggnog... i loves me some eggnog. it's great; the refrigerated dairy section at the grocery store now has a mind-boggling array of eggnogs to choose from. i chose "elfnog" this time in a cutie-poo little elf-shaped bottle... next time, i will sample another brand...
anyway, i can't follow a recipe to save my life. i have to do something novel. so. eggnog fudge. i have a bottle of extremely thick egg liqueur from scandinavia that i think, with cinnamon and nutmeg, would lend itself well to a "blank" fudge recipe.
or is that just a supremely messed up idea?

sound's good to me.
my wife and i made eggnog pancakes the other day which were really, really, really, really good.
and eggnog lattes are going to be the death of me before the new year.
As much as I love anything chocolate, I hate eggnog almost as much. Hmmmm, fudge though...I don't think you can mess up fudge, so I'd try it!

That does sound, I'm going to have to look up a recipe for those. Maybe I'll give them a shot for a nice healthy dinner tonight.
Better yet, have your wife make a trip down to my house so she can make some for me. No need for you to make the trip. http://www.gotapex.com/forums/images/icons/hihi.gif

I love eggnog too. There is a place up near Detroit, Caulder's Dairy, that has the best eggnog. I think when you buy a half gallon of it you get a free angioplasty (sp?) with it. :D

recipie? you don't need no stinkin' recipie. just mix up some eggnog with your favorite pancake mix. i used a little yogurt as well, and some milk to thin the eggnog a bit.
don't forget REAL maple syrup.

Fannie May Candies here in Chicago used to make these Eggnog Creams that always reminded me of Christmas. They were awesome.
I say "go for it," WL!

i've had a couple from starbucks ( in fact, one today) but i generally avoid starbucks because we have better local shops around here. most of my eggnog lattes (in fact most of my lattes in general) are homebrews.

It is a dairy around Detroit (not sure if it is in other place around MI but I know they have a few locations around Detroit) that has the freakin' best eggnog. Their ice cream is the great too. I haven't been there since my vacation last Dec.

I don't know if maybe all the eggnog I have tried has just been sitting out too long - but eggnog tastes like crap to me...
Now fudge on the other hand, I don't see how you could ever ruin fudge.... its too tasty!

As much as I love anything chocolate, I hate eggnog almost as much. Hmmmm, fudge though...I don't think you can mess up fudge, so I'd try it!
Oh..you can mess up fudge alright..TRUST ME..I did it this weekend when the 5 pound pan of peanut butter fudge didn't harden..I was pissed..
'fare..before wasting an entire bottle or even a good amount of that contents of the bottle, do a small test pan-like 1/8th of a recipe ...if you can get it to harden-then by all means-YUM..go for it..
first check the sugar content of the bottle-then if possible see if there is a fat content label somewhere..that's crucial..more fat content than sugar will make you have to up the sugar almost twice the amount..or risk getting a very large brick of eggnog flavored, very sweet margarine. If it's true eggs in the liquor-I wouldn't even try it..and since alcohol doesn't neccesarily allow for hardening-I would think that reducing the alcohol would be required first hand.. by heating up obviously..wouldn't you rather just drink the liquor and toss some nutmeg into vanilla fudge??? LOL...
