A friend of mine is taking a digital photo class next semester at San Jose State and needs a good digital SLR. Since he has Nikon Film Cameras, he is looking at the D70 body only. Any good prices out there? Best I can find is $769 refurbished. (no warranty)

(Sorry had the 7 and the 6 reversed in the price, now it is correct)

OneCall had it for $999 less 3%. Make sure you get a warranty. Also watch out for shady dealers online- especially with things like cameras.

Purchasing through OneCall also carries a $100 rebate from Nikon (if purchased by 12/31).

If you check pricegrabber or other pricing services you call also see other retailers who carry the rebate. Looks like it's only thorugh authorized dealers.

The 3% discount (before rebates) does not say when it ends.
Links to rebates on the right side of the page. On price searches, sometimes the price they quote includes the rebate.

The best I could find quickly on the Canon 20D is at Newegg (and several others) for $1,499. with $5 shipping. They are out now, but expecting more 12/10. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=30-120-025&depa=0 That includes an 18-55mm lens. Ok...so my buddy was too slow to act on the previous deals. He now has the money and is ready to buy when I tell him to.

Anyone got any good deals out there?

Yea...he has all of his lenses for his Nikon film camera.
