I'm hoping someone has some advice for me on this...I signed up for one of those free 21 day PB cyberclub trials, only used it twice, neither time being after the free trial period. Well I forgot to cancel it, so I went to cancel it today thinking they'd be nice and remove the $19.95 charge on my credit card...NOPE. They just kept repeating that I agreed to their TOS, even mentioning that it states in their gigantic document that they won't notify me when they'll bill me. Then they said even if they wanted to they have no means to remove the charge and I'd have to dispute it with my credit card company.

So I call my credit card company and they tell me the same thing...since I agreed to a 21 day trial and I haven't even used the account in 2 weeks, even though they never notified me that I'd be billed on a certain day, I'm apparently 2 days over the trial limit and have to pay for the next full month.

Is there any way to get this crap removed?

I understand where they're coming from but what has this country come to when you can't even get a refund for what you haven't even used yet...I could understand if they made me pay for the 2 days I was late cancelling, but why should I have to pay for the next month that I know I won't use?

no. suck it up. i learned a long time ago never to sign up for websites, magazines, or other subscriptions that are free for the first xx amount of time. even if you cancel on time, they keep charging you. never worth it. $20 is a cheap lesson. spare yourself the aggravation of making any more calls, and jsut never do it again

Since you'll be cancelling this month and all, how about sharing the acct?

Hehe, I'd do it in a heartbeat just to stick it to them, unfortunately it also states in their TOS novel that I'm responsible for any extra charges...giving the account out to strangers could turn into a huge disaster...

Well thanks for the input, but I've never had a problem cancelling anything before this, other than getting the 3rd degree occasionally when I've had to call to cancel something. But this is the first time I've ever been late to cancel...I guess this is what happens! I find it funny that PB would rather lose a potential customer than credit 20 bucks. Oh well.

If you violated the TOS, you violated the TOS. Could have been worse. Imagine you missed a credit card payment. DING! APR 20%

Funny thing is every time I've missed a credit card payment every company I've dealt with is more than happy to refund the late fee and they've never raised the APR...hard to believe PB is more nazi than banks :)

I already know I violated the TOS, but in many cases companies bend the rules. Like in this example when I didn't even use the account for 2 weeks. I posted here not to plead my case about how I'm in the right, because I know technically I'm not, but to find out if anyone had gone through this and knew a loophole to get out of it. Just phrasing things differently can sometimes get you on a different track.
