My wife and I are out here staying with my sister and her family for a chance to visit with my mother. She's been declining kind of fast in the past few months, so we wanted to get a chance to be with her when she is still "with it". One nice bonus is that my brother from Florida ended up coming here the same week (we didn't even plan it that way), so I'm enjoying the times we have together. I'm a little ways north of San Luis Obispo.

Anyway, I probably won't be around the forums so much for this week. My sister has a slow DSL (I tested it at about 280 kb down) connection. (I can really tell the difference between my 3Mb cable connection.) I have been cleaning up their computer for them - removed lots of spyware, etc. (I had to be sure it was clean before I stared signing on to web sites), installed FireFox, IrfanView, and a few other goodies.

Well, here's to a relaxing week. At least I get to check Woot.com at 10pm instead of midnight! :)

I just started using IrfanView. I love it.

Just North of San Luis Obispo... Atascadero? Paso Robles?

That is another lovely part of California - Mrs. Kevster and I would love to move to that area if I could find a job there in my field.

San Luis Obispo is a nice town. My uncle went to Cal Poly up there.

Templeton, just north of Atascadero. Kind of between Atascadero and Paso Robles. My sister's house is on 6 acres of a hillside in an area that hasn't quite been developed, but things are moving closer. They've lived here about 25 years.

I know right where Templeton is! I was in Morrow Bay for a wedding in June and we stopped in there a couple of times while we were driving around and exploring the area (going to wineries, checking out places, etc).

Have fun!

My sister lives on just off "Vineyard Drive". According to the map, if I drive on from her place I can hit 8 or 10 wine tastings if I want.
