It's 149.99 now, $80 after shipping for both items. Is this still a good deal?

Snoop: YES it is still worth it. Aside from the rock solid performance and top notch customer support (I can attest to both), Plextor writers (DVD at least) will write at double the rated top speed for most, if not all media and that includes any crappy generic crap you find at Fry's or the like! So that means if you stick 4x media in there, it'll burn at 8x and will perform a better write than most other drives using just the rated speed. It will still only write dual-layered at the rated speed I think, but it's still 4x and that ain't bad; Plextor is also known for great firmware updates too - so don't count D/L write speeds higher than the media rating in the future out yet. I currently have a PX-708 burner, and none of my DVD players, my friends DVD players, or my PS2 have had problems with any of the discs. To put my money where my typing is: I just put ordered mine!
Super find PitViper - You saved me a lot of time today!

Slightly off-topic here, but does anybody know when Dual Layer media will be available at realistic prices? I just have to consider that when deciding to upgrade my current burner for rationalization purposes.

I am talking about the media. It is pointless to get a DL drive when a darn disc costs almost $10! Just wondering if someone knows something that I do not.
