go to http://www.xmradio.com/friends and enter
[email protected] and you can get the new XM radio SKYfi2 and the car kit for only 49.99. You have to commit to six months of service and pay three months up front but you're getting an amazing price on the receiver and kit. The same thing at BestBuy runs 169.99 right now.
If this deal runs out, you can get the older SkyFi at http://www.xmfanstore.com/showproduct.php?id=skyfi for 29.98. Not at a bad deal at all.

Buy the stock, too.
I have an XM Radio and it rules. Worth every penny.
I'll have to try that SkyFi2 deal...my 2 year contract is almost up.

I agree, I can't believe they let Sirius get Howard. But, even with that said, I think XM and Sirius are stocks to buy. Both are very similiar and both are great entertainment and both are very versitile. Especially with people spending more and more time in their cars and especially with the way people in general feel the need to be entertained all the time. I think both will continue to climb in value, Sirius is probably the one to watch for the near future because of the aqcuisition of Howard. Their subscriber list will probably at least double within a few months of Howard being on there exclusively. Then it will continue to rise...
Oh, for those interested XM has Opie and Anthony ( :spock: ) (not sure if that is an exclusive deal or not-probably is) and the playboy channel ( :spock: ) (I was not too impressed by that one when I subscribed to it [extra $1.99 a month]). XM will also have 2005 MLB if you are a sports fan.
Lavia, I don't know about the contract you have with XM but mine is/was a 5 year one. From what I recall, you can actually cancel it at any time. But if you would like to upgrade, I would think you coud just transfer your contract to the newer unit....possibly. If not, see about cancelling then prepaying with the new unit.

Not a contract, but I signed up for 2 years to save money. Was $199 for 2 years back then. I figured someone would try to call me out on the wording...

I'm not calling you on the wording, I said I don't know about the contract you have with them but mine (contract) was cancellable ( <-- A word )at any time without penalty. I signed up for the 5 year plan and have about 3-4 left.

I thought TIVO was a good stock to buy too but that one went down the toilet for me. I see XM hasn't made a dime in profit since they went public. Just like TIVO. :puke:

I'm treading dangerously close to getting this moved to the finance forum, but I just thought I'd point out a major difference... It's very easy to replicate TiVo functionality (i.e. I can make one at home), but it's much harder to put a satellite in the air to make your own XM Radio.
But, this is a great deal. I ordered one through this deal for a Christmas present for my brother.

Dell, AOL, MSFT, all of those companies lost money in the first few years. XM is still in its infancy. It's only been gaining customers the past 2 years, and gains are exponential (hockey stick curve).
Check the 2 year chart.
TIVO is a different story. They completely missed an opportunity to capitalize on their brand name. Now cable TV has stepped in and capitalized on "Tivo"ing shows. The general public doesn't know the difference.
