i thought it was bullsh** ... just a drug dealer with a good story and a photochopped picture (he bought my mom's boss's mercedes - $11,500 in cash :P ) but in fact, it was him... he told the story (probly for the millionth time) of pulling saddam out, and had pictures of the man himself, and himself with the man himself...

he's an american citizen, iraqi ex-pat... and headed back to bagdad soon to fight the good fight  a braver man than i would be, that's for sure...

That means I'm four degrees of separation from Saddam Hussein. Neat. :)

You'd be surprised how well paid our soldiers are. But what I'm wondering is if he got any of that reward money.

Though it seems he's a civilian interpreter, I'm sure he get just as much if not better.

soldiers aren't necessarily well-paid. BUT if you are a single person who doesn't have any debt obligations, you can bank a good amount of money because all your living expenses are paid by the military. so you may only be making $25k per year, but you can bank practically all of that. which means that if you want to pay $10k cash for a car, you probably have that sitting in the bank.

well, and he has a wife, who probably works - don't know what she does. and i don't think they have kids, so that's money in the bank :P

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of grabbing him, right? Ah... I remember the joy at seeing him going through that physical, and then being even more happy for the Iraqi reporters in the room who were happier than pigs in a sty. Ah...
