I bought the Happauge WinTV PCI for like $20 recently from the Deals page. I have it connected via Coax and can get prefect video, but I can't seem to configure the audio correctly. I bought it OEM so it doesn't have any instructions. Any reason why I can't get audio when my video signal seems to be flawless?

Thx. I will post more details later.

I had to open up the master mixer within Windows and make sure the "mic line in" was cranked up all the way. To find this out I Googled and generally searched around to get this info.

Be sure to go in from Start-Programs-Accessories-Entertainment-Volume Control as that is the only path that I could use get sound to work.

Also, be sure you connect the external jumper cable that comes in the box between the Hauppauge "sound out" port and the "mic in" port on your sound card.

I have the same card, same deal - got it a couple of weeks ago. For anyone that reads this, my problem is that I can get sound and video just fine when watching live TV, but anything that I try to record using the recording software that I downloaded from Hauppauge records video only with no sound.

Mechmike, you fixed it man it was the jumper cable. I didn't notice that that shipped with it, and I guess I just thought it was another input. That's what I get for trying to install stuff at 3 a.m. Anyways, that worked. Thanks buddy!

I tried recording and it worked with both audio and video. Did you try to see if your audio drivers are compatible? I am not on that computer at the moment but there is a little configuration tool that can tell you if everything is compatible or not.

I'll be glad to compare configurations with you to try and get your recorder working.

I'll take you up on that over Christmas (The week between Christmas and New Year's) as it is the soonest I'll be able to slow down long enough to mess with it...
