What did your Caravan do to deserve that?
First Burzhui yesterday, now ski today.
Hopefully its not related to that ticket selling incident. No matter what the cause {even assuming there is one or its known} the Caravan still got it.
The only thing i can guess it would be, besides the ticket thing, would be maybe you parked WAYYY too close to some surrounding cars?
Or maybe the mistook your vehicle for a cheating wife. . .?
I was parked perfectly in the middle of my spot in our school's commuter lot. If someone had it in for me, they coulda keyed it... this was definitely a car parked next to me.
My sister just left me a message saying I should have reported this to the police. The only person that will ever know who did this is the person who did it... plus I'm junking it in a year so I don't care too much, but it's just like it's okay to go around doing these things because there's no real way to trace it back (they have a white car obviously, that's all I know)

Report this to police anyway and they could always do paint analysis to see if the paint match.
It's probably an SUV... no car's doors are that high... is there a time limit on reporting? I have finals until 5pm tomorrow, then I'm totally free...

I had this happen in my school and sadly didn't realize it until I had moved my car (the damage was on the passenger side). Reporting it to the university police didn't do anything for me, as once the car is moved it's difficult to do a paint match on any suspected vehicles. It does look like a high car that hit it though.
I've had that happen to my old car in HS and once more in college. It sucked because I had to pay out of my pocket to get it fixed (or at least pay the insurance deductible) and now I've got a habit of walking around my car, checking it out, before I get in and drive off.
I don't think there's a time limit on reporting, but if it's been moved from the original lot chances are little filing a police report is going to do you any good (unless you have a very low deductible and wanted to get your insurance company involved).
Sorry dude.

Yeah, right... Like the Va. Tech police really give a s***... Nobody got hurt - fill out a report, let ski's insurance handle it, and move on to the next problem on campus.
Not slammin' anyone, but maybe they'd do something like that if somebody died, but not for a parking lot scrape.
Ski, that wasn't a fight - it got sucker-punched. Hate it for you and the van...
I have no collision insurance on this... it was removed when my parents realized it was a piece of trash with no resale value... but I still need it to drive 4000 miles or so this spring for my co-op
Thanks for the info guys, I guess chalk one up for the a**hole.

Pop the inside panel off, and most of the dent should push out by hand. Go over the area with rubbing compound afterwards. It won't completely eliminate it, but it'll be much less obvious.

I personally do not think it was another cars door. Here is another possibility and something to consider. Who else was drviing the van. It looks like the van could of parked near a post, and when the door opened it slammed intot he post, the user not aware retried. This would explain why the metal was not only pushed in but forward too. I know if I was a kid I would retry, and then when I saw the damage, I wouldnt say nothing.

I couldn't tell if you were joking, but my car was parked in a parking lot all day next to other cars, and I'm the only one with a key witin 400 miles :P

there are 3 distinct marks on it that make it seem a bit weird. like it got hit 3 times or one time by something with 3 high points. if you're going to get rid of it in a year or so, I would just leave it alone. it's ugly, but i bet the entire van isn't much of a looker anyway.

Yeah it always sucks man, I got two dings in two months. Luckily the first one was minor and is barely visible after getting the bastard's paint off my car, but the second even after getting the a-hole's paint off it's still clearly visible.

Meguiar's Scratch X took several paint scrapes off of my chrome bumpers of my 2004 F-150. Luckily none of those idiots who scraped my bumper never dented it, they just left paint on it. In one year of owning that truck I got my bumber scraped with paint 3 times (parked, never saw who did it).

reminds me of this line from the big lebowski:
do you think they'll have any leads on finding my car?
<laughing> leads? of course. they've got us working in shifts.
