And now I am sending it back.

I had read reports of "backlight leakage" problems, but figured it couldn't possibly be as bad as people were reporting. How could they sell a monitor for $800 with such a flaw?

I hooked it up, and got a perfect black background. I started watching a widescreen movie, and it was great. Then, as the monitor warmed up, the corners started to glow with a grey halo. Crap.

So... just a "hardware" warning to the rest of you. It's real, and it sucks!

yeah. no double about it. I'm surprised that Dell didn't catch this flaw or decided to let this flaw go out of door.

Paymaster... Wow... Sorry to hear about the "leakage". I'd also read that this can occur with D3lls, but not to the point of being irritating :eek3: . My Stepdad has a new 17" e-model LCD, that came with his Dim 3000, and it looks great. Are you considering a replacement from D'hell? I've got a 2001fp coming with my new "racehorse" 8400 and shudder to think about a monitor turnaround. Keep us posted on your plan... money back, exchange etc.
