BMG has a new music club called “yourmusic.com.” It seems a little better than most clubs and an inexpensive way to build a collection. Also $5.99/CD makes for some rather inexpensive gifts.
The pluses:
-Only $5.99 per CD (i.e. per disc) for as many as you want, any time.
-No other fees, no minimum number to buy (but requires purchase of 1 CD/month while you are a member).
-14,000 CDs to choose from.
-No automatic “Selection of the Month” shipment. (For most clubs this was about $20 delivered if you forgot to return your card).
-Shipping and handling is always FREE.
-You may cancel your subscription at any time by e-mail or on-line.
The fine print:
You have to create “Your Music Queue” where you create and customize a list of the CDs you want to add to your collection. You can add, remove, or shuffle the order of the CDs in your Music Queue at anytime. Every month thereafter they'll send you your next available choice. Remember, your credit card will be charged $5.99 each month, even if you do not have a CD in your Music Queue. So please be sure to have a CD in your Queue one day before Your Music Date. Otherwise, they cannot ship a CD for that month and your credit card will still be charged.
As with most music clubs, it seems to take a while to get the new releases available.
